Enabling the in-game map editor

Download:

Once you have played a number of custom maps you will likely want to try and make your own. Luckily after the 1.1 patch Fraxis enabled added in-game map editor. This editor is not enabled by default nor is there any option in the game to enable it. Instead you have to edit your settings.ini file. You must add a line to your Settings.ini file found in your user data folder which by default is C:\Documents and Settings\My Documents\My Games\Sid Meier’s Railroads!.  To do this open Settings.ini in notepad and add EditorEnabled = 1 on a new line in the [User Settings] section. Then start th game again and there will be a “Map Editor” option in the main menu.

Once you have created your map do not forget to post it in the forum, so that it can be included in the map list.

Happy map making!

Warning: As of writing this is the largest map yet, do not try and play this unless you have a recent and decent computer.
This map comes with many new trains and models most with animations as well as other modifications. It is also a very challenging  map but it has been beaten before.

Happy Birthday!

As of today the 17th of the 10th month of 2009 Sid Meier’s Railroads is now three years old! Since Sid Meier’s Railroads!: Intercontinental was launch to coincided with Sid Sid Meier’s Railroads’ first birthday it itself is now two years old as well.

A lot has happened in these short years, not least of which is now just about every modern computer is able to run Sid Meier’s Railroads on the highest settings. To celebrate I’m going to go play a game of Sid Meier’s Railroads online and dream about what the next year is going to bring.

Wiki up

A few months back hooked railroad’s wiki was broken due to a change in the site’s core. They decided not fix it and instead put out the call to find another host. After a bit of waiting it is now safely hosted here on Sid Meier’s Railroads Simple. It has not been updated for ages and, well theres nothing wrong with that. I will be locking it to preserve it from vandals so it should be here for ages and hopefully generations to come. Check it out if you would like, it also contains some non-Sid Meier’s Railroads pages from Hooked Gamer’s other wikis, I’ll leave those for anyone curious.
