Mid-Atlantic Steam

Map Maker:
Download: Mid Atlantic Steam ZIP

Welcome to Mid-Atlantic Steam. This was designed as a one player map that runs in 4 Eras from 1835 to 1912. That said, testing was done with AI and the map played fine. The map features some new goods, industries and other material. There is a good named Light. Please ignore it as it has no value. There are no crossovers. To cross track you must switch through. This is a SAM (Stand Alone Map). Please insure that there are no other files in your Usermaps or Custom Assets folders. Within the map’s Warehouse folder you will find a Goods List – a simple Notepad text file, which you may find useful. I hope you enjoy the map.

Western Kentucky

Western Kentucky was designed as a one player SAM (Stand Alone Map). It plays in 3 Eras which run from 1956 to 2005. It features a good deal of new content. There are no crossovers – you must switch through to cross an existing track. Within the zip file you will find a Goods List which you will find helpful.

If you wish to play against AI, you might want to open the RRT_Bridges_Western_Kentucky.xml and change the overlap bridge
prices to 1500. This will allow you to cross over AI tracks. I hope you enjoy Western Kentucky.

St. Louis Rails

This is a SAM developed as a one player scenario. It contains much new content.
Bridges are expensive. You will need to share bridges and will probably need
to haul mixed loads. There are no crossovers. When crossing tracks you will
need to switch through. It may take a few tries to determine how best to
place your track. I hope you enjoy St. Louis Rails.

Northern California

This map is a single player designed to run in 3 Eras from 1860 to 1950. All testing was done at the
Mogul level. It took me several tries to get through it.

Initially I could not get it to run on my Windows 10 desktop, so the testing was done on my old laptop
running Windows 8. After completion I loaded it back onto my desktop and it ran fine. Now it did take a
couple of attempts to get it to start. I keep getting C++ Runtime errors, but that seems to be par for the
course with Windows 10 and my desktop. Hopefully, if you are running Windows 10 it will run fine for you.
If you find you get some kind of an error, don’t give up. Sometimes it seems like it just takes a few tries
to get it going, and then it will run OK.

On game play, there are a lot of options on where to run track. If you find you are stuck in Era 1,
try another approach. It can be done. I did a little testing at the Robber Baron level just to make sure
that you could get the map started. A few adjustments to the RRT_Difficulty.xml were made as a result.
There are a number of locales that need to grow before goals can be met. Do not wait too long to get
those growing. It should be noted that the game includes a good called Light. The lighthouses are setup
as industries so that a game save and subsequent load will not make them disappear which would happen if
they were set up as decorations. The good light has no value and should be ignored.

I downsized the map quite a bit from what it initially looked like. It originally featured 3 sets of
train cars and a number of additional engines. It was just too heavy. All version 3 material (train cars
and diesels) have been removed. I think it runs well now and in a reasonable time frame. I hope you enjoy
it and find it gives you a challenge.

Cajun Country

Cajun Country runs in 3 Eras and contains some new goods, industries, engines, train cars and new music. It has been well tested. It was designed as a single player map but will run ok with AI players. This map is a SAM (Stand Alone Map). Please be sure no other files are in your Usermaps or Custom Assets folders. Download the zips to a new instance of SMR. Unzip the first file and it should unzip the rest automatically. I have included a Goods List which I think will prove helpful. I think you will find some challenges with this map. Tell your bridge crew to gear up. You’ve got a lot of rivers and bayous to cross. Enjoy!
