Sid Meier's Railroads! Train Skinning Kit

Post by dshirk » Mon Nov 27, 2006 2:48 pm

Christmas is coming a bit early for those of you who would like to create train skins, but have no idea how to start. The artists put their heads together to create a train skinning kit with instructions and examples for every train in the game.

Enjoy!

Download

*edit*

The download contains:
- .JPG examples of all trains in the game
- a .PDF with detailed instructions on how to skin
- a .PSD example of a train skin

(so it's not a piece of software)

It's in the works, in fact being tested by some ace map-makers as we polish it right now.

I should also add that we've got source train model files in 3DS Max format we'll be releasing shortly as well, to help train makers.

Sweet! Then we'll be able to enjoy the locos of Railroads! in other games like Trainz! I'd love to have them in Trainz! 8)

Thanks, time to put Photoshop Cs to work again. Great job on the explanation of how texturing works and all the samples!! I remember digging through countless files to re-texture vehicles in Desert Combat. You've saved us a bunch of time!!!

yeah, that *would* rock. just got my copy of TRS2006 in the mail the other day, and I'm already starting to make a route in surveyor mode.

Do you have to use 3d StudioMax or another program to skin trains with this??

you can use any imageing software that deals with DDS or TGA, as long as you get the converters. Photoshop is the best but it has a price tag.
