After the attempted install this is what my
C:\Documents and Settings\Eric\My Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Railroads!\CustomAssets\XML
looks like:
XML.JPG
I *assume* that there are supposed to be other xml files in there. The RR_Goods.xml file is in there only because I downloaded it from this thread and put it there myself.

OK, this just proves that my installation is not completing successfully for some reason.
Is this just me? No offense Rodea, but has anyone out there actually used the 'Setup Rodea2007 Map Borneo Island Map Scenario1.1.exe' to successfully install this map?

I did.
And this raises a question.
There were several reincarnations of this installation.
Maybe you have the wrong version.
Rodea has a site for downloading, maybe he could post the link here to the absolutly latest version.

I obtained the installer from the Map Database page. I would think that would have the latest version.

Rodea, I think it would be great if you provided Borneo as one or two (or three?) .rar files, so people can easily unpack them into their User Maps file. The clear, tidily structured way Jancsika organizes his map files is perfect in my opinion. It enables residual problems, if they exist, to be identified comparatively fast.

It would be a shame if more people could not enjoy your Borneo map. :P

Installers are always great in principle, but apparently not really able to cope with the variety of installations that exist in practice.

I have used the installer, and it’s working OK for me.
I have also made a stand-alone version (no installer!!) of it for those who are having problems with the installer. It is available at this post:

Try it.
It is exactly the same what Rodea designed. No files were changed!

Played this map today for the first time.

At beginning of era 3, it was using 2.2gb of ram.
Map running smoothly at 1920x1080 AA8x, not one CTD turing 6 hours of play.

Managed to fulfill all the requierements for victory in Robber Baron dificulty, except 1 on the second era (delivered 78 carloads of tanks instead of 100). Playing alone (no computers).

At the end I had 20.000 miles of railroad and over 75 trains.

Great map, lots of fun, very tricky to learn at first. :D

Played on my G73 laptop.

Thanks for the map, professional stuff, congrats!

Any plans for a new bigger map?

I was looking forward for a bigger map.

Borneo is 24x24, but half of it is water, and half of the land doesn't have cities or industry, so ends up feeling like a 15x15.

I'm still dreaming about a 25x25 map with terrain occupying 90%+ of it and cities/industries around the whole map, using maximum ground.

That would be the closest to realism as the game would allow, IMHO.

Is there anyway to mod the tracks/trains to a smaller scale? That would improve realism too.

I think it is possible to make it, just need high spec computer to play that map with RAM minimum 4 GB
