SAM style maps discussion.....
Re: SAM style maps for downloading....
Dwax, Rodea, are you two using Vista?
I'm correct 97% of the time..... who cares about the other 4%....
Re: SAM style maps for downloading....
No have Win XP Still have no luck with it, gave it a couple times today and tried it the way Rodea did with no luck. I can use the regular version just fine.
I tried some of the others and they work just fine.

Re: SAM style maps for downloading....
OK, delete any Saves, ScreenShots and Logs if you have them, zip your Sid Meier's Railroads! folder and upload it. It should come up to just under 7 Mb in size. I'll look at it.
Have you tried the other 4?

Re: SAM style maps for downloading....
Most of you have played my "Middle Earth" scenario and it is SAM map and I was told that it is rock solid.
I just switched from XP to Vista and it plays in both.
When I play a scenario I have absolutely nothing else loaded in the CustomAssets and UserMaps Files.

No one has winner and also no has losses in here, I only talking about Your map CTD in my Computer and Dwax Computersnoopy55 wrote:Well, I guess you win. I am not going to go on with this if someone is going to post that there is only one way to use these and it is not the way they have been used for the last 7 months.

If they don't work with the fpks in user maps and some other map didn't for me they can all ways move them to custom assets folder themselves. I do when i find they work that way. Keep up the good work and if they are to lazy to experiment like I do.
Dwax...I just tried again those map as SAM and fortunelly those map can run fine. the secret is don't copy all extracted from zip file into UserMaps, but only folder with xml and bitmap file and fpk file ex. utah map only copy utah folder and utah.FPK into usermaps folder not include Utah_SAM folder, try itDwax wrote: No have Win XP Still have no luck with it, gave it a couple times today and tried it the way Rodea did with no luck. Re: SAM style maps for downloading....
LOL there is nothing in the files except the map and a config file. I will just keep playing the old version, and yes as I said, I can play the others with no problem.snoopy55 wrote:OK, delete any Saves, ScreenShots and Logs if you have them, zip your Sid Meier's Railroads! folder and upload it. Two of us downloaded it and got it running, but that doesn't count since we wrote it.

SAM style maps discussion....
Kind of confused as to why it wouldn't work. Operating systems shouldn't interfere wit the game and the other Sams all worked. Never had any problems with Sam's until this one.

Re: SAM style maps for downloading....
Dwax, not sure if it will make any difference, but open RRT_Scenario_User_Utah.xml and go to the last few lines:
</Era>
</Eras>
<AICharacters />
</RRTScenario>
Delete <AICharacters /> and save. See if that does anything for you. That is part of the original map, but there may be things that bother stand alone maps on some machines/systems.
