Sid's Place

Post by Choo-Choo » Wed Apr 04, 2007 6:59 am

Fun little map i threw together based off the US east map.
Only a few citites and just enough industry. Your gunna have to do some planning and thinking to make ur fortune. Includes scenario from 1875-1900, 1901-1970. Cities and industries are not close to eachother so ur gunna have to travel to get the goods.

I like the play on words.

Funnily enough the game CTD's at The GeForce Quarry (Gold Mine) loading Ore. I suppose it could have been a graphic glitch

My CTD has gone after editing the xml files and resaving them, only change I did was add my double trains and added a RRT_TrainCars_Sid's Place.xml

I used one from the Hawaii map and renamed and altered the reference for this in the RRT_Scenario_User_Sid's Place.xml :D

Well, tried loading the map - CTD while "building up steam". Any/what mods are also needed to load the map?

How did you do that K-class? I tried it and saw no change. Where do you edit the RRT_Scenario_User_Sid's Place.xml ?

Here is what I changed in the scenario_User file, is that right?

<TrainCarsXMLFile>RRT_TrainCars_Sid's Place.xml</TrainCarsXMLFile>
<TrainsXMLFile>RRT_Trains_Sid's Place</TrainsXMLFile>

OK I see what I did wrong, I forgot to add the .xml to the trains xml

A question, If you wanted to use the Bunit.FPK trains, could you just mod the scenario_User file like this to get them in the map?

<TrainsXMLFile>Bunit.FPK</TrainsXMLFile>

don't do this:
<TrainsXMLFile>Bunit.FPK</TrainsXMLFile>

just reference to the trains file name you want to use,
the content of the fpk will be visible if in the custom assets dir

dwaz, no, you put the references to trains you want in the Scenario into the RRT_Trains_<scenarioname>.xml file. Aren't the B unit trains considered tenders? If so then you need to reference the appropriate loco that calls the B unit into your RRT_Trains_<scenarioname>.xml. OF course the full definition for the loco and B unit need to be in the Global RRT_Trains.xml but if you have them working in other maps then they are already set up so just the reference in the Local RRT_Trains_<scenarioname>.xml file is needed.

Dwax. Just remember when you load a new map you need to copy your TenderCar list from your global TrainCars xml list to the new maps TenderCars xml list. "The B Unit is a Tender Car."

That's all there is to it.

Every new map you get, before you fire it up just add your tender cars you are using to the new map and you're done.
:)

EDIT// I like the map/scenario...

As gforce said

Its all detailed by snoopy55 SteamOrNoStaem.zip

http://www.hookedgamers.com/forums/down ... php?id=935

Here is the read me on it (below all backup a file before deleting it)
Open the map folder. Note the map name used in the XMLs and delete the RRT_Trains XML Copy the RRT_Trains_xxxx.xml file into the map and replace the 'xxxx' with the name you noted.

This example is for Wisconsin.

Open the Wisconsin folder. Note the name of the RRT_Trains XML, 'Wisconsin1'. Delete RRT_Trains_Wisconsin1.xml. Copy RRT_Trains_xxx.xml into the Wisconsin folder. Rename RRT_Trains_xxx.xml to RRT_Trains_Wisconsin1.xml. Finished.
in RRT_Scenario_User_Sid's Place.xml

There is two lines in there and I just added the referance to TrainCarsXMLFile>RRT_TrainCars_Sid's

Code: Select all

<TrainCarsXMLFile>RRT_TrainCars_Sid's place.xml</TrainCarsXMLFile>
<TrainsXMLFile>RRT_Trains_Sid's Place.xml</TrainsXMLFile>
You can change maps around to suite yourself, add stuff all you are doing in the xml's is referancing (pointing) to a file location.

In this map I have only all the double headed trains, SantaFee and the other diesels running.

Also starting at year 1800

If you want more money use the additional Difficulty Level - I called it "Inside Trader" http://www.hookedgamers.com/forums/view ... 4381#14381

Thanks guys! :) I tried to do it like K-class said, and never have any luck with that. But I did manage to get all the doubles that I can The F series, AC4400 and the GP7. I tried this with snoopy and it never worked for some reason. But I have fun with what I have. :D

dwax - you make me feel bad  upload a copy of the map you're trying to do it in under the maps thread and I'll look at it and correct it/give you a bit softer instructions.

Lowell - it has been found that adding tenders to each map can be hazardous to your health. I mean the games health....... As long as they are in the GLOBALS, they can be accessed by any map.
I'm correct 97% of the time..... who cares about the other 4%....

I'm not trying to snoopy. :) I am just having fun the way it is now, Have had no crashes and still have doubles I can use. Besides if I upload it now, I lose my saved games, and I want to still play them.
