Inauguration Special SAM map

Post by Jancsika » Sun Jan 25, 2009 8:28 pm

This is 14 x 14 SAM (Stand Alone Map) of the USA
The action is that everybody is going to the Inauguration.
“Betty Boop” ( If you don't know who Betty Boop is, Google it!) was elected.

There are Seven different groups of people, that are going to Washington:
1.Voters from all over the country.
2.Senators from three different Statehouse.
3.Celebrities from Los Angeles
4.Patriots from Denver
5.Stockbrokers from New York.
6.Hippies from San Francisco.
7.CarMakers from Detroit via Vegas.

Since all trails converge to Washington it is a rather difficult map to play. You have 5 years to complete the mission. It can be done!
The map seems to be stable. There were no CTD-s for me.

How to install and use SAM (Stand Alone Maps)

1) Go into C:\Documents and Settings\(your computers name)\My Documents\My Games and rename the Sid Meier's Railroads! folder you presently have, adding an ending to it, whatever you want. ("SidMeier's Railroads - Old" will do just fine)

2) Start the game. When it gets to the main menu, exit. This will create a brand new, empty Sid Meier's Railroads! folder.

3) Go into the Sid Meier's Railroads! folder you renamed and copy the 'Settings.ini' file into the newly created Sid Meier's Railroads! folder. You now have the basis for all future SAM and CIC maps. This is not mandatory, but your old "Settings.ini" file has all the customisation that you made to the game. (Clouds, graphics setting, Newspaper etc.)

4) Open the Sid Meier's Railroads! folder, then open the UserMaps folder.

5) Close all folders and play the map

Just unzip the file In the C:\My Documents\.....\SidMeier's Railroads!\UserMaps folder and enjoy.

I have to apologize. I was using 7Zip compression utility, and it has dropped some of the files.
I also have the whole program on my FTP site
http://home.comcast.net/~janosballa/Ina ... 0V_1_1.zip
You can download it from there in one file.

The engines supposed to haul freight too. Please check the new upload.

Sorry The FTP link is broken!!!!?

Yes it happened to me too. One of the files took two tries to get it right. Chek the file size when downloading.

It happened before. First I blamed on the ZIP program I use, but now I am not quite sure.....

Wow!
Great job........Really shows what can be done with these things. Played for 2 hours without a hitch.

1 suggestion if I may.
The 2 large diesels are basically unused. They only haul mail. Would it be possible to use them for at least all the people going to Washington? Preferablly open to all cargos.
Regardless, this is one I'll be playing a lot.

Thanks a ton

H there
I just copied and pasted and saved the file.
No difference. Won't pick up anything but mail.

Which is the most up to date zip. I'll redownload it.
I've been working with all 3 of yours.

Pete! I am uploading complete new ZIP-s. Will be marked "A" and '' B". ( I was getting confused with the numbers myself, so I deleted the whole thing (ZIPS) and start from scratch.

Try to reinstall the game. I just doublechecked myself, downloaded and installed a completely new game, and the Rifle (Arms) icons were there.
But what i've noticed, that it took 3 tries to dowload the right size of ZIP file.
There has been download problems before with larger files. So the best thing is always to check if the complete file was dowloaded.

Ok. Here's my test.

Downloaded A and B from "Hooked" forum.
First time A came at 306K.
Re-downloaded both.
A-7014KB........Unzipped 45,581
B-7520KB........Unzipped 21996

Downloaded both from "Bobby's Forum.
A-7014KB........Unzipped 45,581
B-7520KB.........Unzipped 21996

Is it strange that B is the larger zipped, yet unzipped it's smaller.
Loaded the game and STILL; the 2 larger diesels will not haul freight.
