Free Camera Mode?
Civ 4 has a free camera mode? Does Railroads! have it?
Also, control-F is supposed to toggle "Flying Camera", but nothing seems to happen when I've tried it. What's the Flying Camera all about?
Thanks!

Yes, mostly.Stratagerm wrote:Civ 4 has a free camera mode? Does Railroads! have it?

Game must be paused for Cntl+F to work, then click & drag, and use the arrow keys. Hold Shft down for arrow keys to work faster.
Releasing from the free-mode is a bit tricky; best way I've found so far is Esc., then go to the Retirement Screen, then click Keep Playing, & then unPause.
Both pics were from same location, just different heights.

Or you can just hit Ctrl+F again to leave free-camera mode and return to your paused game.keotaman wrote:...Releasing from the free-mode is a bit tricky; best way I've found so far is Esc., then go to the Retirement Screen, then click Keep Playing, & then unPause.

Nice!
Seems to work best on the stock maps. Flying mode on the Utah map quickly crashed to desktop.
While in flying mode you can move the camera outside the MiniMap boundary I described on the Wiki, and you can clearly see the terrain out there which is otherwise hard or impossible to view. You can even see out past the edge of the .tga tile! I didn't try moving the camera out that far, though, since it had been causing the CTDs.
Thanks!

Thanks, that is a lot easier. Don't know why it didn't work when I was first exploring, but it works now.choobacca wrote: you can just hit Ctrl+F again to leave free-camera mode and return to your paused game.
