New Zealand map

Post by rayzinnz » Fri Mar 19, 2010 8:23 am

Hi I just found the map editor thanks to smrsimple, and I've drawn this map of New Zealand. I just zipped the folder under UserMaps? Hope it works I'm still learning about sharing maps. If not I will update it in a few days as I learn more.

Welcome to the Forum.
Glad that you have discovered the map editor. Firaxis released the editor, but it does not provide any support. But don’t despair you will find it right here.
When you create a map with the editor it will give you the basic map structure, but it is up to you to modify it to make it completely functional.
It has several industries (in this case food, manufactured goods and automobiles) that are producing goods, but they don’t go anywhere.
You have to make the cities to receive and pay for them. You have an RRT_Cities_nz.xml file that you have to modify to receive them. The best way to do it is to get an XML editor (Notepad++ is free and everybody here is using it, be sure to get the XML plugin) and edit the file.
I am enclosing an edited version of the file for you to compare. It will replace the file that came with the map. The Towns will receive Food, the Cities will Food and Manufactured goods, the Metropolis will receive all 3.
If you have any questions, post it here. Will be glad to help.
