I am new to pc games and have had SMR for a couple of months. It is good to find a site that doesnt spend all its time complaining of how bad the game is and how it crashes all the time. The impression I have is that this forum just likes the game and is making information available to improve the enjoyment of SMR and the game of SMR itself.
For a 'New Chum' like myself would someone please give me some info on these senario maps that others have developed. Could I just download some of them and use them easily,are they complicated to install.
Incidently, SMR crashes for me at various times particularly in the Norteast senario as the game gets loaded up with stuff. The tracks just drift away leaving the trains running along. What I found was helpful was to delete the automatic saves at the end of each session. This reduced the number of crashes considerably.
Once again compliments on a good site.

If you download the actual installer for a map that will give you the best chance for success. The Wiki page is the best place to get maps. If you haven't done the Firaxis Holiday Scenario then I would suggest starting with that. It's the only official add-on and a special installer is about half way down the Wiki page.
As far as crashes go;
You should have at least a gig a RAM
A good sized static swap file
Minimal programs running in the background
Latest drivers for all hardware
Try using medium shaders

I have mine set to 1024. It sort of depends on the amount of RAM you have. I have 2 gigs so I only use 1024. If you only have 512 or 1 gig then you might want to use 2048.

Cool thanks. But should you have a swap file on each partition including the one where you have installed the game, or only on the partition (c:\) where windows is installed?
Only one swap file is needed. Your F: drive might be best since in theory it should be on the outer part of the platter which should have higher transfer speeds.
