K,
i do like the game but like most people i always want more, more, more. i hate the small maps and when i play them i usually find myself forgetting the goals of scenarios and connecting longer routes on purpose just to watch the trains over longer distances, makes it more real. at times i do miss RailRoad Tycoon 3. I loved the game play and the longer distances between cities, there were tons of maps and i liked the game/economic model. find myself going back to it often. many of the new maps here though are cool and are getting me back into this game. i can do basic stuff like moving things around in the xml's and adding things but you guys are amazing with the new models and such.

I have a couple large maps I have been working on. A new Florida map size 17 should be done soon. There are several models I am working on at the moment. I also have a couple larger maps I am still working on bit by bit. The real big ones sometimes can get a tad unstable...

dwax - you're not making sense there. RRT_Trains.xml (GLOBAL) is the file that holds all the engines that you'll see in the roundhouse. Then you put the <szName> for each engine you want in the maps RRT_Trains XML file, along with any special info you want, like year and even a different engine for a Dual.
You should know this...
I'm correct 97% of the time..... who cares about the other 4%....

ok, i tried the Valencia map since it had no tender info in it's mapname rrt_traincars.xml and worked fine, tenders and duals showed up. i then tried Australia and deleted all tender references in it's mapname rrt_traincars.xml and it worked as well. i'll go delete all the tender references from all my mapname rrt_traincars.xml files in each scenario. Must have been my global rrt_traincars.xml i was using. did you find any errors in it so far?

Hello snoopy55 might be a sleep still.

The only difference I can see is you have a lot of the goods cars missing and some of the duals and added trains.

One example is the Beer Cask Car, Taconite Ore Car, Taconite Pellets Car, Cowhide Car, Football Car

looks like the map Super Bowl Express! Deliver goods to the Super Bowl.
http://www.hookedgamers.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=1233

Looks if you have not run some installers and some maps. Keeping up I find hard as so much going on all the time.

I also use XML marker http://symbolclick.com/ as it does indents and highlights issues easily

see wiki trains
http://www.hookedgamers.com/wiki/Sid_Me ... ains_skins

see wiki maps
http://www.hookedgamers.com/wiki/Sid_Me ... ustom_maps

Snoopy55's traincarxml prob has everthing in it.

I use a great tool called WinMerge is an Open Source visual text file differencing and merging tool for Win32 platforms. see http://winmerge.org/

You load one file in the left window and the other file in the right window and run a tools to see the differance.

To be honest xml one small , or ref left out makes SMR CTD's the game is pretty sensitive and I have several backup copies I use before installing any new maps or mods so I can roll back easily. :D

I also notice winmerge is highlighting spacing, spacing does not matter just as long as you are using a xml editor

notepad wordpad add hidden code in the background and are not XML complinent - I use XML marker

see screenshot

All the default tenders seem to be correct.

Though see screen shot my A Units Dual is different to yours.
mine is szModel>emd_f3_B.nif</szModel> and <szDummyModel>emd_f3_B_dummies.nif</szDummyModel>

yours ref to emd_f3_A.nif and emd_f3_A_dummies.nif

Also I see ref to missing from yours Double Stack Container Cowhides, Double Stack Container Steel Car prob from snoopy55 side to side map.

K,
i never installed the superbowl express map or the side to side map so that explains that discrepancy and why certain files are missing in mine.

as for xml, i do use notepad so maybe it jacked something up at one time?

as for the F-Series duals, i used the B.nif and B_dummies.nif along with the B-Unit.fpk to get the A-B combo and made another reference using the A.nif and A_dummies.nif to get an A-A dual combo.

Here is what I have in my Global trains.xml and traincars.xml as of right now and everything works so far. The traincars.xml is the one snoopy sent me and he had tons of stuff in there and the trains.xml is my modded version. I left his references to the P5A and 2-8-2 Mikado in the tender cars section but don't reference them in my trains.xml as i don't use that combo. i also added my F-Series B-Unit Dual to the tenders.

Great that its all working. I would think notepad was your issue in editing XML files. Try XML marker.

Its great though you can change tenders around etc to get different combo's.

I also played with global Names_ENU.xml to change my train nmes in the roundhouse as well.

You both need to try Notepad++ with the XML plugins. I set my XML files so that I only have to click on them and they open in it. It gives you the first line # with an error and has a place where you click and it auto-indents your file. It won't let you save if there is an error. Look it over:

http://notepad-plus.sourceforge.net/uk/site.htm

Under 'downloads' there is a plugin called 'XML Tools', get that also.

I have 4 programs and was using all of them till I was refered to this one.

Don't thank me, one of the programer pros set me onto it. Once you get using it, no other editer is even on your mind.
