9 Diesels available

Post by snoopy55 » Tue Mar 27, 2007 12:37 pm

Playing with my maps I noticed a couple of Duals that would be good as singles. Two heavy AC4400s pulling 3 or 4 cars of grapes don't get it. (where is that SW1?) Here is a list and their origin:

GP38 Single _______ Original
GP7 Dual _________ Download
GP7 Single ________ Mine
GP38 Dual ________ Basin & Range
Superchief Red ____ Basin & Range
Superchief Red A __ Basin & Range
AC4400 Dual ______ Download
AC4400 Single _____ Mine
F7 A-B Units _______ Download

The 2 of 'Mine' are just rigged from 2 others. The code is in the download.
The F7 A-B Units is available for download and atani is doing an Installer for it. This code is also in the download. The Bunit.FPK goes into \CustomAssets.
Included in the download is a RRT_Trains.xml code set for inserting into any map. You just have to add/adjust the dates.

If I forgot anything, just wake me and I'll deal with it. :?

Do you have to add this to the Global trains XML snoopy? Or can I just add it to each map train XML that I want it in?? :)

Sorry bout that, stuffy head and kicked outta bed to early by the dogs.

In the TXT - the RRT_Trains.xml section.... copy those 3 engines and place them into the GLOBAL RRT_Trains.xml.

The RRT_TrainCars.xml section...... copy that Tender Car into the GLOBAL RRT_TrainCars.xml.

The Names_enu.xml section...... in my case, since I speak English, copy that into the new GLOBAL Names_ENU.xml. And/or whatever language you use.

Now that last section, this is for each individual map. As an example, ALASKA, you can copy this section and create an RRT_Trains_ALASKA.xml file and put it in place of the existing one, or open the existing one, delete all that is in it, copy this section and paste it into the existing XML and save.

dwax, please copy any file you change in case there is something that may be needed that I didn't include. I know that sounds bad, but our games' data is different and all I can do is check to see if it works in mine, which it does. If you don't have something i do, we'll have to worj that out.

let me know.......

No problem. Detailed instruction on how to do it are included below.
If you REALLY don't want to do it, for a small fee to a charity, I can correct them and upload them to you......

Did like you said in the file, and still have red blobs, must be still doing something wrong. :) Maybe better to leave it alone. :)

I can't figure it out. I tried about 7 times to put all the dual engines in and always get red blobs. Would be nice if atni could figure a script to get this in and the user just put the code in the map you want to use. :)

lazersgm - I was hoping as dwax says, that atani would do an Installer before anyone tried it.

I really should have also insisted that you have Basin & Range, the GP7 and the AC4400 loaded on your game.

dwax - here are the files you sent me rewritten. You are being given a choice of steam included or no steam included.

As to the difficulty of it all, I had no problems.....

ATANI, WHERE ARE YOU, THESE PEOPLE NEED YOU!!! or did i confuse you also.....

ok think i got this figured out. once you get the train in the RRT_Trains.xml in your D:\My Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Railroads!\CustomAssets\XML dir all you need to do is add the tag for the train like "<szName>TAG_NAME_GP38_DUAL</szName>" to your "C:\Program Files\2K Games\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Railroads!\Assets\XML\_SCENARIOS_\US_East\RRT_Trains_US_East.xml" file or wich ever map you want it in. it will use the stats found in the rrt_trains.xm file. not that hard now that i have it figured out.
