Maybe somweone else have the same Problem, that every city have the same Names.

It would be great somebody would know what is wrong.

I believe it is 'The Nameless City'. This usually has to do with city naming. You might try reloading it after you load in the new version.
If you have a downloaded Railroads! you have to get the files from Direct2Drive.

Good Luck! :D

Hi,

the fix posted here http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=198137 should fix the issue with the non-English versions.

zzbusch, I've no idea why the English version should have stopped displaying the correct city names in the Holiday Scenario, but here is something you could check. Note: this are based on my limited investigation with the scenario files, so may not 100% resolve your problem.

First, go to the "My Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Railroads!\CustomAssets\XML\_SCENARIOS_\Santa" folder and look for the "Names_ENU.xml" file. this is the file that contains all the Santa Scenario city names, start by searching for a city name such as Cupid for example, which should have the id tag of "TAG_SANTA_NAME_CUPID".

I've attached the Names_ENU.xml from my installation for you to use, replace existing one, or just use as a reference.

If the TAG_SANTA_NAME_??? lines cannot be found, that might explain why the city names as not showing, in which case using the attached Names_ENU.xml the the folder above, *may* fix the problem.

Let me know how you get on.

The Santa board has its own un-install its not apart of the actual game install.

Found it

I found the problem. Under \Custom assets is a Names_ENU. It had all the towns with "Unknown Name". I just edited the correct names in.

<Tag>TAG_SANTA_NAME_COMET</Tag>
<Text>Comet</Text> <<<<<< This had 'Unknown Name' instead of Comet, etc.

Thanks for the help.

if your using patch 1.10 you shouldn't have to use Names_ENU.xml anymore. It should be using something like RRT_Names_Santa.xml.

A feature with 1.10 is every scenario can have its own names file now.

Daryl

Also were you in the editor with that map????

But I don't know what caused the problem!? I looked in the names file and could not see where it says The Nameless City At least I have a saved game from befor it went bad. I always save a game before I start a new one, just incase somthing like this happens. Now I can just make up a 100 saved games LOL

dwax, look up to the post by zzbusch. go into the names file and do a search for 'Unknown Name'. as you fine each one, replace 'Unknown Name ' with the name that comes after NAME_. 'The Nameless City' is only what the game calles it.

Another thing to understand the Holiday map is set by default for the 1.10 patch. If you don't have 1.10 you will have to do some editing to make it work right on the other versions.

If you used the broken scenario editor on it, let me know and I will post the three files that can fix it for you.
