Snow on the trees

You can change the looks of trees, shrubs, rocks, by editing the XXXX_DIFF.DDS files found in C:\Program Files (x86)\2K Games\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Railroads!\Assets\Trees
And save the result in the UserMaps folder C:\Users\User\Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Railroads!\UserMaps
Here are some white trees and red shrubs. The background is “Ice Mountain” from the Terrain editor

What's the red stuff? Shrubs? Looks like blood and goo to me ...
