I have what might be a really fun idea for a scenario, but I don't have the technical knowledge to make it myself and would invite someone to pick up the ball and run with it. It would be a Middle Earth scenario based on Lord of the Rings and Tolkien's other works. For example:
First Age:
Deliver x amount of Elves to Lothlorien, Rivendell
Deliver x men to Arnor, Gondor
Second Age:
Deliver x amount of Mithril (ore) to Gondor, Lothlorien, Arnor
Deliver x rings of power (gold) from Mordor to Minis Tirith, Moria, Rivendell
Third age:
Deliver x trees from Fangorn to Orthanc
Deliver x pipe weed from Shire to Orthanc
Deliver x corn to Rohan to feed horses
Deliver x horses, men from Rohan to Gondor
Deliver x men from Dol Amroth to Gondor
Deliver x oliphants to Mordor
Deliver x Elves from Lorien, Rivendell to Grey Havens
A couple of techical questions:
Can a formula be used where, for example 100 gold ore are needed to create one single brick of gold. That would allow a small number of rings to be created in the second age in keeping with Tolkien's work (3 for elves, 7 for dwarves, nine for men.) Is this variable possible?
Also, would there be a way to manipulate the tracks so that they could be made to look like paths or roads, and trains so they could look like barrows?
Any feedback on these questions would be appreciated.
How about a Middle Earth scenario?
Re: How about a Middle Earth scenario?
Did you happen to find the map that was done called Middle Earth?
I'm correct 97% of the time..... who cares about the other 4%....
Re: How about a Middle Earth scenario?
Yes, with a 0.01 Input/Output ratio it would work, but it would require, if I remember correctly, 900 loads of Gold Ore..... and a Good called 'Ring' could be made up easily to be hauled by Gold Car.mojos wrote: A couple of techical questions:

Thoughts on variations of this have come up also, but the discussion was Thomas the Train. The paths would be no problem. The Engines could be made into horses and they could be pulling wagons, but we're talking a lot of 3D creation here. I think you're just about asking for a whole other game......but it would be a neat thing...I've read the books three or four times myself....loved them. Also, would there be a way to manipulate the tracks so that they could be made to look like paths or roads, and trains so they could look like barrows?

Re: How about a Middle Earth scenario?
It's funny I was just trying to wrap my brain around modding this game a month or so ago when I saw someone finally came through with a Middle Earth mod. I know my proposal would have been quite ambitious, but being both a huge Tolkien fan and a Sid Meier fan I remember a very ambitious Civilizaton II mod someone made to create a Lord of the Rings scenario. While trains of course aren't part of Middle Earth the thought of moving goods around to where they were needed for the various plot twists in Tolkiens works sounded intruiging.
