Seperating Industry from City

Not sure if anyone has already tried this but i have .....and with success!!
So i figured ide share it with you.

After alot of time, Common sense and... a little file editing, so far i been able to seperate the industry and add an annex and it works so far in my test map. I had to use a standard depot annex as i have little skill with graphic editing (basically i stink at it) :( My next trick im going to perform is make the annex act like the city ones do so you can buy/add more industries to it. My concept comes from trying to make a seperate industrial complex like a warehouse district kind of thing. Im trying an idea where you could ship goods to the complex then to the city as it demands it adding a new aspect to the game.

This is really cool, keep us posted on what you discover!

Not sure if it'd be possible, but perhaps you could use the American train stations for cities and the European depot for these outlying industries to add variety?

If you get this working smoothly and we can get someone to do the graphics, you could make a train yard and store cars here for further distribution..

Thats a great idea actually but would require someone to make an entirely new industry in or out of city.

In city would be no good as the other 2 indusrties would take anything they need that you want to drop off for later use elsewhere. The new Distrubution points can be used, just remove the container crane. Don't know what you'd put in its place, or if you really need anything.

all industries outside the city have to have an annex in order to work. So it would need some kind of annex either using th regular depot coding in ur files or have someone make one based on the type of industry your making.

Well, like I said, take the Container Distribution Point, the land based one,(which is an Annex) copy it and give it the name 'RRYard', remove the crane and set it to take in every Good in your map and put out the same Good, 1 to 1. This was discussed monthes ago, and I had one, but it was in-city.
