How to make a map...?

I have a question for snoopy or whoever: In the game instructions that come from the commercial version, they talk about the ability to make maps. Now forgive me, I saw some really lengthy instructions and couldn't make it too far into them....but implicitly I got the impression that anyone who makes maps does so with notepad and knowledge of XML. Is this the case or am I missing something? please give me a simple or bold print answer if possible.

Yes, they put it in there, if you have the latest update. No, they didn't enable it, they expect you to do that.

Go into My Games\Sid Meier's Railroads\ and open Settings.ini. Add this line - EditorEnabled = 1 - somewhere in there, around 'Last *****' somewhere, and save. You'll get an added menu line that will allow you to edit. From there, get out an excavator and dig thru the forum and Wiki and you'll find most everything you need to know.

sweet...it worked, thx! I also have to mention, it's hilarious that it warns you that using the editor could mean bugs, and crashes and such....as though that didn't happen without the editor lol.
