Adding resources?

Post by zzbusch » Wed Dec 13, 2006 5:44 pm

I'm trying to add a Grain farm or two, to the Hill Valley scenario. Could someone tell me how? I have the towns accepting grain, but can't get any Grain farms to show up on the map.
I'm using the great scenario editor.

Thanks, ZZ

Here it is. I haven't played it in a while, so I can't remember if I really did finish it, or if it needs something. Play at your own risk.
I was really just fooling around with stuff, trying to see how it worked.

I hope what is below helps. As I noted below, the map has Grain, so I don't understand what could be wrong. Look this over:

Click on the green button at the top.
Click on the arrow and go down till you find what you want.
Under 'Scenario Name' give it the name you want, even if you just add a number.
Click OK
Click on the 'Goods' tab.
Click on the item you want to move and click on the corrisponding arrow.
(Grain should already be on it......)
Be sure to move any industries that are needed also.
Click on the 'Industries' tab.
Here you set up 'inputs', 'outputs' and 'ratios'. Enter what you want and click the green.
Highlight a resource and click red to remove it.
You can add industries by highlighting them at the bottom and clicking green.
Highlight an existing one and click red to remove it.
Defining locations is a bit more work and if you do one you have to do them all.
If you don't finish, click 'Save' at the bottom. Highlight it and click 'Reload' to continue.
When you are finished, click 'Create'
It will let you know if there are any errors.

If that doesn't help I'll be glad to look it over. Send it to me in a message if you can or message me and I'll send you my e-mail so you can.

The thing about adding industries to a map is if you add one you must then add them all.

You can't place one manually or the game won't auto make the others its either place everyone of them or have the game auto place them all.

Putting a new good's industry into a map is easy. Just a simple edit of the train cars, goods, depots and industry xml file.

Daryl, your 2 statements are contridicting each other. You don't have to add them all if you add one. You DO have to manually place ALL of your chosen industries OR don't manually place any of them. If you check that 'Define Locations' you must define all of them. You can define an industry in more than one place. And from the looks of it you also give it a location near a city. I'm still playing with it and thew new maps, even yours.

Hi guys
I did everything you suggested Snoopy. I tried quite a few times. Something must be screwed.

I'll try to attach it. See what you guys think is wrong.

How the problem came about I don't know. I thought it may have been in setting up a food plant putting out food and beer, but it does work. You'd be better setting up a brewery seperate from the food plant. The only benifet I see your way is 1 Grain = 1 Food AND 1 Beer. Also, while you can set up industries in the City Type screen, leave the ratios blank. The inputs on this page appear as the 'Demands' of the cities. What you put here is put into every city, not just some. Industries are put in cities randomly.
OK, creating a city of your own. On the Cities tab in the lower right corner are 3 buttons. I haven't played with the first 2, but the 3rd is what you want. this brings up a pop-up where you enter data. For City Tag: enter it as follows:

TAG_{map_id}_NAME_{city_name} ( Dont add {} )

For 'map_id' use your map name. No spaces, use '_' in place of any spaces. For 'city_name' just enter your city. Again, no spaces.

For City Name: just erner the cities name, minus the '_'.

If you know how to read the map grid, just enter where you want it. If not then note the City Information you need, delete the city and insert the information.

I hope this helps you and others.

Attached is a map you can start with. Copy your specific stuff from your map to notepad and enter it. You might want to just recreate a new map of your own. Something you did didn't agree with the program.
Put the attached map into your Workspace Folder.

Thanks Snoop. I don't know where it went wrong. Your's work fine. I'll add my own towns etc.
I sure hope the editor comes out soon. I guess they asked Akmad to help, so his Scenario editor might be part of it.
