Hi Folks, I have started work on my next map - My Old Kentucky Home Redeaux. The second map I ever attempted was the original My Old Kentucky Home map. I didn't think I would ever get it running. A very frustrating time. With help from a number of folks on this two sites, I finally got it running. It was a very different process from what I go through today. It was also amateurish compared to my more recent maps. So I have decided to give it another chance. This will involve a lot of changes. Some of the original work I can re-use, but there is also a lot of stuff that has to be re-worked.
The first engine that will be used on this map is the L & N Pacific number 155. This was recovered from the original map with a few updates to improve its look. (I really had no idea what an emsk file would do back then.)

For my next engine for this map I cobbled together a Louisville & Nashville 2-8-4 number 1977. My first work with a 2-8-4.

The next engine for this map will be the Baltimore and Ohio 4-8-2 number 5557. With the size of this engine, a slightly larger tender was needed so I made a 6 axle tender for it to pull.

This is a re-do. I pulled the LN F7 from the original map. I was doing some testing and getting some funny blinking from this engine. I started digging into the nif files and found all sorts of strange stuff. Well, I couldn't put up with the way the engine was acting so I re-made both the F7a and F7B files. Now the nif files makes sense and the odd stuff the engine was doing is gone. This is the resulting engines:

I brought this one back from the original map. I always liked the look of this engine - the Louisville and Nashville GP7 number 553.

Giving the old map a run. Only thing I noticed about this is the front L & N label moves around ever so slightly, but otherwise no blinky blink here.

Everything that I think I need for this map has been built and tested on my test map. Now I need to get to work on the actual map and start moving items over a re-test. It's a process. :>)

I have finally gotten all of the pieces for the map moved from my practice map to the actual map and re-tested. Next I have to develop goals for the map and begin testing for play. It's a long process and there is still much to do. Golf slows me down in the summer. Take care all, Slider
