Hi Folks, I have started work on a new map - Dakota Territory, which will start post American Civil War and run to around 1940. The first engine for this map will be the Chicago, Burlington & Quincy 4-4-0 number 148.

The last engine for this map will be the Northern Pacific 4-8-4 number 2760. This engine has been repeated from The Great Northwest map. Hey, it fit the bill.

I have finished the build of the various pieces for this map and have given everything an initial test. Now I will begin moving things from my practice map to the actual Dakota Territory map and begin the second round of testing.

I have moved all of the items for this map from my practice map to the actual Dakota Territory map and re-tested everything. If you download the finished map and look at the train cars, you are going to see cars shown as v15. Think of that as 1 and 1/2, though in reality, the size increase is probably about 20%. The 4-4-0 didn't look bad with the v1 cars.

Due to the time frame of the map, there are some larger engines that will be running the v1 style of car, but the v1s looked kind of small.

I took the v1 cars and just increased their size a bit. I might have gone farther, but I didn't want them the size of the v2 cars. Anyway, this is what I ended up with.

I think these v15 cars look better than the games v1 cars with these larger engines.

Now I get to the hard part of the map - goals and testing. Oh boy.

I have spent the last several weeks testing this map and goals. I think I've done about all I can without feedback from others. I can beat the map with about 3 years remaining at the Mogul level. Whether it can be beaten at the highest levels I don't know. Now I have to build the event.xml file and get the pix for the Scenario pulled together. Then I can get this map posted.

Happy Halloween!

Welcome to Dakota Territory version 2. Following testing by railage, I made some minor adjustments to the map. This is the end result.
map_Dakota_Territory.jpg
In late 1865, Colonel Harold Sneedbee petitioned President Andrew Johnson and Congress for a grant
to build a railroad across the Dakota Territory. The grant was made in 1866 and by 1867 Col. Sneedbee
began laying track. Your job Colonel, is to make your dream a reality.

This map was designed as a one player SAM. Ace tester railage reports that the map plays well
with AI players. The map does not allow crossovers. Too cross existing track, you must switch through.

I hope that you enjoy Dakota Territory.
