The Great Northwest

Post by slider38 » Sun Nov 26, 2023 9:09 pm

Hi Folks. I have started work on another map - The Great Northwest. This map will encompass Washington state and a large part of Oregon. I have the first engine for the map completed - the Central Washington Railroad 2-6-0 number 365.

Another engine ready to run - the Great Northwest Railroad Shay number 2. Many thanks to wingsofphoenix for constructing this model. I'm sure many hours went into this project. It's a beauty.

I have spent some time over the holidays doing a little railroad work. I wanted a new lighthouse for this map, so I built this one:

I still have one more engine to build and test and then I should have the pieces I need. That said, I do seem to be adding and subtracting things up to the last minute so we'll see. Happy New Year to you all!

Nice work on the lighthouse. Looking forward to a close up view of it and the next map.

I've been working on my completely pointless saved game editor. I can now align cities with the platform.

And a happy new year to everyone, as well.

Good looking stuff there veeblefetzer.

I think I have finished the last engine for this map - the Spokane Portland & Seattle F3A number 802.

I have a ton of work to do on the actual map, then I can start moving things over and re-testing. The work goes on.

Hi Folks, I've spent the last several days working on a covered railroad bridge.

I had intended to use it with this map, but I think it is going to have to wait a bit for its debut. It looks pretty good with a F3A going through.

However, it isn't looking so great with a steam loco moving through it.

I have looked at the tunnel files trying to find a way to stop the smoke, but it appears to be hardwired into the game. It sees bridge and the smoke just rolls on. I am still doing some testing with the RRT_Bridges.XML file to see what I can do to control the length of this bridge's use. That is still a work in progress, but I have found some numbers that seem to provide some control More testing is needed for that.
Meanwhile, I have moved all to the industries from my practice map to the actual The Great Northwest map and I am starting testing for playablility. Hopefully I will have this ready to go before too long. Happy New Year to you all.

I have spent the last couple of weeks testing. I've gotten about as far I can and I am now turning to map work. Lots to do. Once I get the physical map where I want it I have to build the event files. Still plenty to do but I'm getting there. :)
