Zimbabwe SAM

This is the Final revision! No major changes!

You have the assignment from the United Nation High Commissioner to bring relief to this impoverished nation.
You are given 6 years to alleviate hunger, after that 3 years to restore industry, an finally two more years to bring in the tourist industry.
If you succeed your rewards will be great, but if you don't; you will be fed to the lions....
To start with you are given a run down rail system, where you can buy a train for $1,000 or for $1,400, but the maintenance is $10,000 and $20,000. After the initial high cost you will have new engines with normal maintenance cost.

This is a 15 X 15 SAM map.
The scenario is performance oriented. The goals are to move a certain amount of goods from industry to consumers.
The duration of the scenario is 11 years, but there are 256 turns per month. The engine maintenance cost has been adjusted to reflect this. (Except the first few years)

It is a normal SAM type installation. Just unzip the ZIM_1_0.zip file into the UserMaps folder.

Well, I had no problems at all, map ran perfectly to the end. :D
This is one of the maps I like best:
  • an interesting story
  • a real country
  • good terrain (Victoria Falls visible in the background) and
  • the option to build a clockwork network
Excellent work, Jancsika!
If I may add one comment, the warbonnet at the end looks a bit out of place - perhaps a ZAR skin would be more in keeping with the theme?

Great map.
Had no problems with it at all.
Keep them coming.
Thanks,Pete!

I have the final revision uploaded at the first post.
There was very little to correct. Changed the terrain at the bank, added a line to the train XML,(for those who had problem with hauling freight) but the gameplay was not changed.

That is an intended design feature of the Zimbabwe map. Remove it, and your tunnels will be back to normal.

There is one more thing to remember: some of the maps you mentioned place some files also in the custom assets folder.
You have also to clean that out too.
Me thinks: It would be easier to follow the original installation instructions, than try to improvise.
After all they were made to help you to play the game

No I don't.
At that time, when this map was made, I was uploading them to 3 different forums, with 3 different compression (ZIP) requirements. It was for me trying to keep track what's what.
Thanks for the compliment. :D
