Be advised that it looks like Rapidshare has changed their hosting rules yet again... when I clicked on the link at 9am pst (utc -8) 2/13, it said that the file had already been downloaded 10 times and that was the max for a file unless you did something or other.

You might want to investigate just what those changes are...

in the meantime I got my copy from 'the Aussie site', so that one still works...

Tanks for advise
Yes I noticed in the rules of Rapidshare saying maximum download only 10 times, if this is indeed true, I will try to upload my map directly in this forum

Great models and a very enjoyable map, Rodea, good for you!
2009-03-29_233759.jpg
Unfortunately, there is a random event problem, the map crashes when an unsupported event is called. Once I substituted my "safe" random event file the map ran smoothly to end, not a single crash!

The net worth goal seems too ambitious, however, I could get nowhere near it, although I completed all other goals well ahead of time! Perhaps it needs to be in the third era.

OK, so I made a heroic effort and BINGO! the dollars came rolling in sufficiently to fulfill all goals with plenty of time left - 36 years early :D
WIN 1964.jpg
And yes, I did have the smart Rodea AI to contend with. Bought him out within 10 years, and he did not look too pleased about that, sorry! (By the way, the splash screen (.dds) for sad Rodea is missing.)
Buy Out.jpg
I said it before, I'll say it again: really nice map challenge, if the random event problem is fixed.

Australia
- not forgotten  My SMR disk had cracked, but got a brand new replacement last week, cost me about $10 at Amazon, including post and packaging.

Congratulation Karsten......... :P
I see you only have Rodea2007 as AI, but I guess if you play wit full AI that is more challenge.....

Could you tell here what's solve for that, if the people here get trouble like you, I'm sorry because I never get that problem when play with 3 AIs....Danke........... :)

Fixing those random event crashes
I notice only a few map makers like Lowell and Jancsika are fully aware of the importance of correct events for a crash-free map. I have explained this before elsewhere, but perhaps not in enough detail :D

When playing the Quad City Lake in Winter 2 map, a typical scenario might go like this:
SMR Events 4.jpg
The game runs smoothly until, say, 1935 and then it crashes. Reloading does not help, it crashes again at exactly the same moment in time. To check that this is caused by a random event, look at the log file. Aha!
Winter 3.jpg
There it is, evidence of the culprit. The only way to continue the map beyond this point is to restart Windows, then reload the saved map in SMR. The map now will most likely display a "good" event in 1935 and run smoothly until 1950, when again, CRASH! And so on it goes: CRASH, restart, run for a while, CRASH, until finally in 1995, no amount of restarting and reloading will allow you to continue.
What is going on?
SMR shuffels the random events like a deck of cards, like so:
SMR Events One.jpg
Green events are OK, they are supported by goods in the map. Then we reach a "bad", unsupported event - and CRASH. We reload Windows, and the stinger is: SMR reshuffels the cards, but only chooses those it has not played yet!
SMR Events Two.jpg
Note how the "bad" event has now moved back in time, so you can continue to play until you hit it later in the game and again CRASH, reload, etc. This goes on for quite a while, until (in 1995 in our example above) there are only bad cards left! At this point, no amount of restarting Windows, reloading etc will allow you to continue the game. What a pity, you might miss out the best parts ... :D
2009-04-03_233417.jpg
What causes all this? Simple really, the scenario does not have its own event file, which should contain events only for those goods that are actually in the map! Notice how every scenario that comes with the game has its own, custom-made event file? That is to ensure there are no "bad", unsupported events in the file. Bingo, now we know why the official scenarios don't crash. :D
