LongShot New Map
LongShot New Map
This is 13 x 13 size map.
There are 96 turns/month.
You star out with an impoverished nation, every city has brewery or a winery or both and they just keep guzzling.
In Era #2 the leadership decides that in order to improve the lot of the people, natural resources of oil and taconite has to be developed and the cities will have to build an industry (just like soviet style). Hospital restores the drunkard proletariat so that they can work the taconite mines, pelletizer, iron mill, steel mill, war factory, (here the peace movement steps in) guns to scrap metal, machinery to export in exchange for gold.
In Era #3 the entertainment of the masses comes in. Football (soccer for the minority) is developed, consumer goods are imported to satisfy the crowd.
Era #4 the curious world comes to the developing gambling industry and leave their gold to fatten the nation coffers,
There are no money or stock goals in the game, so you can concentrate on the efficiency and the beauty of the track layout (no spaghetti bowls).
The truck mileage can jump as high as 5000 miles in Era #1, in Era #3 and #4 it can be reduced to 2000 eliminating most of the grape and grain traffic. Also the number of trains can be reduced to about 10. (Of course if you play on a Mainframe, the sky is the limit).
In lesser systems you might have trouble loading the Saved Game, just load a new game and try to load the saved game from the new game.
There are 12 city sizes (from Utah). You have to grow a city (village) to size 2 (That is 0, 1, 2) to be able to build the factories in Era #2.
You will have to have a few metropolises (size 9, 10, 11) to generate passenger traffic for Era #4.
Please read the installation instruction that will come with the ZIP

Here is the ZIP
I had difficulty loading it, but at the second or third try it loaded fine and have not experienced any crashes.
It is a rather difficult game and I had problem establishing a timeline, but I think I’ve got it finally.

Missing images
Ok good map I played it for hours and when I went to make build the hospital in ANNUMINAS it didnt have the option to build it when cliking on the station, Also I Cant buy the Port Facility In Linhir as it seem to be a seperate Depot/annex.
Also when bidding some of the Images for the Auction are not there just shows a big square with a grey background and cross in it.

The only reason i can think of to run a map thru the Editer a sacond time is for placement of additional cities or Industries. Really the best thing to do is to make a copy of the original map files, then when you have to go in again, do so with the copy transfering any changes to the final map. This way you avoid any unwanted movements by the Editer.
I finally worked out a location layout which I used to find approximate locations with fine tuning done later, which kept me out of that thing.....

I'm correct 97% of the time..... who cares about the other 4%....
Well It had grown to a large town but when you clik the on the build industry for Annuminas there is no reference or Icons to build a hospital.Jancsika wrote:Annuminas has to grow to a large village before a hospital can be built.
I'll have to check on the Port, it is a different setup and the XML file sometimes resets itself when using the terrain editor. That can happen to the Hotel and Casino and the Transfer Station also.

Here it shows my hospital already built in Annuminas, and the Industry selector screen with the Hospital circeled. You have to be careful, those Icons look very much alike.

Go into 'Chat', thread ' A pile of requests and questions!' In there you will find where Gforce worked it out and explains it. It was a complicated mess to me at the time.
Another solution is to find the 12 Industries you want to have the player install, give the rest all the homes in cities that the map needs, and put the astric in front of their names.
There was talk of research to see if more than 12 could be up for purchase, but it kinda faded into the sunset......
