passengers to denver

Post by Slappy Da Clown » Fri Mar 30, 2007 12:31 pm

Hi Philbo

This works for me even with one track. Dont haul passengers from Chicago to anywhere but Denver. When your line reaches Denver load a full ( 8 cars ) train & mark it High priority & send it out, have it return with only 1 passenger & 1 mail. Watch the number of passengers at Chicago when you get another full train load send another trainload to Denver same way until you have 3 trins going in that direction full. Of course this will only work if you break your neck gettin your track to Denver real quick. Try it, it might work for you.

choobacca - I mentioned it a while back about an oversized file in your FPK. I've since come across a few others in a few other FPKs Below is a screen shot of yours opened with Dragon UnPACKer 5. I'm not sure what it is that's happening. I deleted the original and re-installed the map, same thing, same file. If you would please, try a download of the Installer and open the FPK yourself and see if you get the same thing. Also, what unpacker do you use?
Oh ya, the SDSMods.fpk file is 3,279KB in size.

While working on the FPK reader in the SMR.dll (part of the installer) I came across a few bugs in the parser used in Dragon Unpacker. Most of these are due to unknowns about the actual file format, I think I was able to work around them with a bit better file parsing than what they used (proper peeking at next data, etc). I will email you a copy of the SMRInfo.exe which I wrote up which will dump the content of an FPK (both details and actual files).

Thanks Atani. I guess I could see if it did a random file now and then, but the same TGA from the same FPK every time??? I open those up to dig in them, and when I move them, that one took 2 minutes, and all but 5 seconds of that was the one file!

I tried my SMRInfo tool last night on the new FPKs from B&R and it blows up, so I also seem to have a bug in my code still... I have to throw the debugger at it and see whats going on, obviously some sort of data corruption or "encryption" being used in the file sizes, in the file names portion they do a ROT-1 encryption (rotate down 1 character, A=Z, B=A, etc).

There is also apparently some "dummy" blocks in the file table so this might be part of the problem.

I'll see if I can find out which other FPKs have bloated files in them and maybe see if the creater can upload the TGA in error. Tell me, what is a good FPK packer? The one I tried with Mid East, the .FPK showed as .fpk and the game couldn't see it.

As I said 'have it, forgot about it' I'll have to try it on those FPKs that are having trouble.

Thanks
