I even added an extra Era of 6 more years with an extra target.
Oh goody! Does that mean we can look forward to a extended Rift4? 8) 8)

Works fine.. Even though it's not a ratio of 2.
Now check out mine please.

Heheheh. I'd love to give it a shot, but at best I would be able to mess around
with the goals and add a few. I haven't learned how to edit anything else yet.

I'm not sure though whether or not Jancsika wants to release more follow-ups
to this scenario, so I'll await his comment first. If he's okay with me tinkering with
his map, I'm gonna give it a try.

Please feel free tinker with it. That’s how I started making scenarios. With each step I learned something that I was not aware before and everybody was always helpful.
By the time I’m finished doing a scenario, I am so familiar with it that it’s no fun to play it any more. I normally set it aside and look at it again after couple weeks pass. It would be challenging to see a new twist.
I would like to see Bushdoctor’s new icons

Thanks a lot Jancsika. I look forward to give it a try.
Icons eh.. Yea, I created a fitting one for the bank allright,
I'm just not sure how to access it. Guess that's a new step in my learning process. ;)

Snoopy, you know what: I think those graphics are on a larger canvas for a reason,
and that reason is the described issue with DDSconverter.
Sofar I concluded it can handle ratio 1 and 2.
The graphic you posted is on a larger canvas of 512x512 = ratio 1.
If you would crop the actual image, you would probably no longer be able
to convert it to a DDS file.

Still not a problem because I can push out the desired sized graphic,
but it does mean that either Universum had another way of converting,
or that part of his description isn't correct.

Oi! Check out the graphic I created for when you reach an oil target.
I mixed several pics from the web and applied a sepia overlay.
No idea what kind of train that is.... looks like a baldwin or something...
but it does haul oil. 8)

The two I messed with so far are the auction image, 256 x 256 and the report image, which is a 340 wide by 480 high mounted on a 512 x 512 which has a ugly green background. The ones for the events are placed on a 1024 x 512 background.
The attached is one of his and it's the Event size. The game may be set up to run that 1024 x 512 size with event files.

No, what you did was take my 742x300 pix image and place it back on
the 1024x512 canvas. Heheh.
My point was that the 742x300 won't convert with those sizes.
I do appreciate your efforts though. Image ready for use. ;)

Thanks a lot Guys! (;))
I just hope I can find as nice looking art for other events on the web.
I was lucky to run into a website with all kinds of classic oil drill images.

Yea, good plan on Utah. I learn most seeing how others did it.

Quick update on my progress. I believe it's going bloody great. 8)

I've got Lowell and Snoopy standing by for help, (Thanks guys!)
but I can proudly say that I have been able to figure out everything by myself sofar.

I'll give you an idea of what I'm doing.
The map, cities and locations will all be the same as the last Rift release.
I have however limited the starting points to 4, carefully picked them
trying to give each a similar chance of succeeding.
Expanded to 4 different and tightly sceduled era's.
I've added heaps of huge targets. Amounts of goods that have to be
shipped go into their hundreds. Changed some farm ratios.
Changed purchase prices for certain industries drastically and even
managed to get different purchase prices in different eras for the same industry (bank). ;)

I'm up to a point where I'm test driving the map. I already ran into
a few crashes, but were always able to find my mistake and correct it.

Inbetween test games I'm hunting for fresh old art for the news reports (events)
so keep a close eye on those when playing the upcoming release of
The Rift Valley Revisited.
- Not for the Squeemish -

Heheh.

Allmost there!

Of course I gave myself more work and had to insert a new train car
and some other stuff, which in its turn crashed like a drunk pilot,
and even though it sometimes takes more than a day to pinpoint the
error, it's mostly just my lack of knowledge which is easily solved
by either Lowell or Snoopy.

Back to test playing the new victory conditions!

Btw, I caught Snoopy going to work today:

Now that's not nice.....I've updated that twice. :P The first update was a two seater and I let my wife peddle, and the second was a chainsaw motor so I don't have to peddle. I'm thinking about a steam driven one next, but everyone keeps telling me that it's already been done........

So what if it has been done? Half the fun of these things is getting your hands greasy...
