Alright, so I've followed the steps correctly, i emptied my Railroads usermaps and custom assets folder, I've installed the map with no problem, when i go to play it in the game, it fails to load, and my game crashes. I am running a 2.8 dual core machine and i have 4 gb of ram (win xp). Any suggestions to get it working?

If you use Windows XP as your System, and 4 gig of RAM, there is no problem, just question What type of Graphich card do you have, and how much memory in there?

Sometimes it takes two or three tries to load. That's fairly common with larger maps. :D
Also read this thread there are several suggestions of how to load.
I hope that the Compatibility mode of the Railroads.exe is set to XP Service pack two. You can fiddle with that too.

I'm running an Ati Radeon 4870, and it has 1 gb of memory, so i dont think there should be an issue there. I've tried loading it multiple times because of its size, and I get the same error every time.

I've been able to run other custom maps fine, i was playing mud skipper the other day, and i have separate folders for the custom maps, I just call the one i want to play the original directory, and name the others something else.

I downloaded the map from the 'Map Database' page.
I un-zipped the file.
I deleted the C:\Documents and Settings\Eric\My Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Railroads! directory and
I restarted SMR to recreate it.
I double clicked on the 'Setup Rodea2007 Map Borneo Island Map Scenario1.1.exe'
I am trying to install as Administrator, but I cannot get this map to install.
I get the following error;
Error msg
Error msg
The second error msg is the result of hitting the 'Show Details' button from the error screen.
Show Details
Show Details
Any ideas? I've tried re-downloading and all the previous steps several times and I get the same error.

That’s really strange.
I just went through the same procedure, that you did (download….etc) and it installed OK.
The only thing I can think of is the ZIP program that is used. I am using 7Z.
I will notify the mapmaker and see if he has any idea.

To un-zip I am using what ever it is that comes standard with Win XP. I'll try and install this 7Z and see if that makes a difference.
Thanks for your help.

No luck. I installed 7-Zip and extracted using it. I get the same stop at the same exact spot during the install. :(
