NEw Mountainous Map Himachal

Post by vinay001 » Mon Mar 29, 2010 4:50 pm

This is my first map. As i was completely pissed at developers for having cities so close to each other that Ai virtually makes a mess, I tried to make a map where Ai wont create so vulgar looking tracks. Though it Still does that.

But it will be fun in multiplayer i guess. Enjoy and reply.

And it requires SMRI.

This has standard industries and difficulty is medium level I guess.

PLEASE REPLY FOR SUGGESTIONS.
YOUR COMMENTS WILL BE APPRECIATED.

THANKS ALL

P.S. : If you want fast trains then extract files in "fast trains.rar" in "\Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Railroads!\CustomAssets\XML". It still requires SMRI. Backup your original files in case of some error.

All 14 Cities are villages and each has 3 industries already. Cities are not so near as in maps by developer, I mean how can you create junctions on track if cities are so near that sometimes even some length of train is in one city and rest in other. You get good amount of space to build tracks. Also terrain is mountainous and hilly. There are 4 starting locations at corners of map.

Enjoy Imagination!!!

If you could set the map up as stand alone, either SAM or CIC would be awesome, then I could host it on smrsimple.

Anyway good job!

Your map is fine as is. No need to convert to anything, because if you do it it will increase the size of the map file and you will not be able to upload it to this forum.
WarII should post the SMRI files to his map database and allow people to make decent small files and refer to SMRI.
I have just tried SMRI and it still works fine.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
When you are making a map with SMRI loaded it has all the different mods and resources available that are not in the basic game.
In your case you are using trains that were in the Amerigonia and the BasinAndRange maps. These are called FPK files. (Amerigonia.FPK).
The later SAM style map eliminates these dependencies on other maps and contains only files that are pertinent to the map you are making, therefore they are StandAloneMaps (SAM-s)
I suggest that you read these references. And if you have any questions just ask, will be glad to help. http://www.hookedgamers.com/forums/view ... =42&t=3378

Hey everyone,

I'm currently playing this map and I quite like it... actually I like it a lot :)

Just a little bug I found, which I am not sure whether is on my computer only or happens to others too. When I tried to transport beer from Kinnaur city I got a crash. I tried it many times and it happens just as the train appears on the track and tries to join a beer car to it. I also tried to reverse the train route, so that I would first transport passengers to Kinnaur and then beer back and I was able to transport the passengers but when first beer car appears I get the crash.

I personaly don't mind, it's just that I thought you might be interested in it.

Thanks for the map and also for the other ones on this forum. Thanks

Just wanted to know if this happened with all trains or some particular train?

I just tried 4-8-4 Golden stake, 4-2-0 Norris and 2-8-0 Consilidation and with all of them I got the crash so I suppose it happens with all trains.

The bug is not your doing. It is somewhere in SMRI.
From what you describe the game is looking for a traincar that will accept beer, and can not find one, which is strange, because some of the maps in SMRI are using beer.
I have here a beer FPK file. Copy and paste it in the folder where the other FPK files are. I think it is the “CustomAssets” folder and see what happens.
Let me know!

Copying the file amongst the other ones didn't help but copying the content of the file in the file "RRT_TrainCars_Himachal.xml" did help! Thank you very much.
