Three villages to metropolis

Post by Borkvald » Fri Apr 11, 2008 10:49 am

Starting near one of the container ports is probably the key. Starting in Painan I managed to finish all goals in 1936. Robber baron, hard, 2 AI's.

My graphic setttings are optimal - there's no sence in uploading 700 kb when 150 is enough.

Hello together,

unfortunately the map won't start. The starting process ends in a CTD.
Yesterday i tried the following:
Installation of West Sumatera Scenario Vers 1.1. Then deleting the WS-Files in .../MyGames/Sid Meiers Railroads. At last installing the New West Sumatera Map. The game ran well.
Today I had a CTD again.

I hope anybody can help me (if you understand my poor English)

Greetings from Germany
Walter

Hello Walter
To test this map, please make clean Install-->rename Sid Meiers Railroads! for ex. Sid Meiers Railroads!bak then make new folder with name Sid Meiers Railroads! copy setting.ini from old SMR folder to new SMR folder then play SMR with original map. After that exit from game and run West Sumatera Installer, that is only test, should be West Sumatera no CTD after Installed with others map

Happy enjoy it...

Hello Rodea2007

Thank you for your quick reply.
First of all I have to describe my system's settings:
I'm running Vista Ultimate SP1. Therefore I patched my SMR.exe with 3GBenabler to get no CTDs when I play my maps, SMR runs very good with it.
And now my test:
I did a clean install by renaming the folder in MyGames, installed WestSumatera.
With the patched SMR.exe the map did not start, with the original SMR.exe it started well.
I'm going on testing the map later this week.
Thank you again, Rodea2007.

Hi Rodea.
First let me say that I am your number one fan; the maps of yours are spectacular in their originality.

I am one of those, that have had big trouble playing the more complicated maps. I am lucky to get more then 15-30 minutes before they crash. Not just yours, but others as well. Now that the SAM's are coming out, I've been using them with no stuttering; no crashing; not a hint of trouble.
I am working as the tester on your West Sumatera as a true SAM, and so far; in the testing stage; it has run for hours trouble free. I really hope, that any you do in the future, could be done in the SAM format.
After 2 years; I think we finally have a fix for this game with the SAM's, and with your talent, it only gets better.

Pete
