Long Beach California area Map
A 15 X 15 map.
3 Eras: 1830-1899, 1900-1969, and 1970-2040.
Single player or Multiplayer.
There are no custom resources in this game so all you should have to do to play is extract the files to the "UserMaps" directory
This map is intended for beginner to intermediate players. There are a few challenging goals that you may work toward. Have Fun!
Fancy late game bridges will crash the game back to your desktop.
Try to stay away from Avalon on Catalina Island in the late game.

Long Beach runs perfectly, not a single crash, and smooth install. (I love SAM maps). Since I don't play with AI normally, I went for safe Financier, 3 AI and hard routing. With all the AI tracks, its a bit difficult to see my strategy, but basically I started with a Los Angeles-Anaheim backbone and took it from there. Thanks CalmDragon for this fun new map!

I'm glad so many liked it so quickly.
It took a few weekends over a few months playing with DEM files from USGS and a few more weekends decorating with clutter.
Poor o' Palmdale and Victorville in the northern mojave desert being ignored during most games played. No worries though, I usually only head up there when running away from the AI opponents myself.
I'll know it will be fun if I ever see it listed in a multiplayer room...
...For my next map, I think I'll work on a fictional continent from a video game.

It’s a great map. Well thought out layout, no crashes. I liked the emphases changing from mail to automobile to gold. It required changing the track layout, which I did twice.
Jancsika
I had to rearrange the tracks twice, but that’s the fun. One suggestion; you might want to shorten the timescale to half, or add additional goals, like hauling “Manufactured Goodsâ€

I like the idea of adding additional manufactured goods goals and am working on that in my bay area map, thanks.Jancsika wrote:I had to rearrange the tracks twice, but that's the fun. No one goes up to victorville, maybe should have to send them 50 cars of goods to survive the heat.

Re: Long Beach California area Map
hey CalmDragon big thumbs up.
No CTD as this was the only map installed (no globals - SMRI)
I really enjoyed this map! Why? you actually get to enjoy playing it without the 500 cars here ship 3000 gods to x by date. It has simple goals but you really can build up the goods.
You can sit back and enjoy the trains going from point a to b and get some great track layout done as you have time to do this.
Plus I had forgotten about the old original trains puffing away.
Excellent map well laid out and fun to play.
