I don't think overlapping bridges and elevated stations should be allowed,, could use some interlockings though.....

I'd call that ironic, considering on your second picture it says "this train has been immobile for quite some time...."
Are you sure you're in a position to decide what should and should not be allowed? Your tracks are very inefficient. This game is more a business simulation than a train table or pretty tracks like yours would work. But they don't, they get all screwed up unless on easy routing and you know it. This is proof of my point and the necessity of things like "L trains" (ever been to Chicago? Many cities have trains way above the ground...). You might be able to play against a puter with crappy tracks like that but you'd get eaten alive against a good human.

'Tis a fine looking mess BN, you're learning all the tricks, I'm impressed. Mostly I'm impressed with your mobility, I see 3 separate sections on the map and it is a nice site. Don't pay any attention to the guy who's whining about bridges. Your map looks 10x cooler than what he did. Anyone can lay tracks on the ground and make a big mess like his picture reveals. But it takes skill to make perfect bridges, perfectly level, move around the map efficiently and have TRAINS THAT NEVER GET STUCK!! lol bwa ha ha

easy Darthroid, I didn't post those pictures cause I win with them. and that imobile train is likely somewhere far from the screen shot location LOL. as far as what should be allowed i'd take a hint of realism over mind numming who can click and drag race or i'd be playing world O warcrap

Actually speed isn't as much a factor as you think. It's THINKING that wins this game. Case in point: I generally always win, maybe 1 out of 75 games do I take a loss (multiplayer).... BUT I am losing for the first 5-10 minutes because I play slower, with a long-term strategy... Many of my plans take 10 minutes or more to come into full force, as a lot of it is about city growth see? I won't go into details but I would argue that it is intermediate players that play the way you describe, clicking real fast and laying track like a Tasmanian Devil... But advanced players take their time and build properly, cleverly, and maybe even a bit slowly with long term goals in mind.captaintractor wrote:easy Darthroid, I didn't post those pictures cause I win with them. and that imobile train is likely somewhere far from the screen shot location LOL. as far as what should be allowed i'd take a hint of realism over mind numming who can click and drag race or i'd be playing world O warcrap
And I've heard many arguments about realism, but find that little in the game is realistic... I would also point out that the game limits how steep you can make tracks, ie it intentionally allows bridges. And by your argument, the L train in Chicago is "unrealistic", I simply disagree.
And I know the immobile train is far from the screenshot, it clearly states what city it is in. But that is missing the point. You should essentially NEVER have that message if you route properly.
Here is what is unrealistic: The game decides which track a train takes if you give it options, and it invariably chooses the wrong track, making it come face to face and then a standstill with an oncoming engine.... THAT is unrealistic, not having working switching points is unrealistic. The fact that routing priority doesn't appear to work in the game is unrealistic. and so on.
So I would argue there is not much of a "realism" argument here, instead it is logical to go to a true train simulator, many of the others are "realistic", SMR is NOT.
Thus this provides yet further evidence, with the very nature of the game that it is in reality, a business simulation much moreso than a train table or train simulator.... With that in mind, I think those bridges make perfect sense....

Re: Pretty Routing Pictures
I understand what your getting at Darthroid, I have been monkeying around mostly with custom maps in single player but I can sure understand how you can come from behind and win if you play right.
