Trains in America
All of the European trains are available to me in American scenarios, as well as the trains that should be there. How do I fix this?
Re: Trains in America
The short answer is to delete the unwanted engines from the XML. Does that help?

Re: Trains in America
All the US maps use the same engines from the US East.
Open My Games\Sid Meier's Railroads!\CustomAssets\XML\_SCENARIOS_\US_East and place the attached modified XML into it. The game will use it in place of the original one since it has a newer datecode.

Re: Trains in America
I know this, but for some reason the European trains are available in America. They're NOT in the RRT_Trains_US_East.xml or in the US East folder at all, but they still show up.snoopy55 wrote:All the US maps use the same engines from the US East.
BTW the file didn't help.

Re: Trains in America
Which XML? They're not in the RRT_Trains_US_East.xml or any other in the US folders, if any of those are what you mean. As far as I can see it, the only way to fix this is to delete them from the trains XML in Custom Assets, which would also delete them from Europe, and thus reducing my playing capacity to America.karsten wrote:The short answer is to delete the unwanted engines from the XML. Re: Trains in America
Use the Modified XML file Snoopy55 posted above BUT rename that to RRT_Trains.xml Save it and then put the renamed file into your My Games\Sid Meier's Railroads!\CustomAssets\XML\_SCENARIOS_\US_East folder.VirginiaAndTruckee wrote:Which XML? Then in the same folder open the RRT_Scenario_02_US_NorthEast.xml file and goto the bottom and find the line
<TrainsXMLFile>RRT_Trains_US_East.xml</TrainsXMLFile>
Replace that line with this line
<TrainsXMLFile>RRT_Trains.xml</TrainsXMLFile>
Save that and then try the map .

I just ran the file in my system and it did what it had to do, work.VirginiaAndTruckee wrote:I know this, but for some reason the European trains are available in America. Note to Vzbob and others, unless you are POSITIVE you know the programming of this game, you should NOT edit the original files. This game, like all others run with Windows, uses the file with the newest date if it finds two with the same name.
Now to the problem. Confusion. Mine. I made that change back in Sept of 2007. What I did was resave it to give it a more recent date. While renaming them I got them mixed up and sent you the older one. Try the attached one. Also, do you have any SAMs or other Modded maps loaded? That can cause a problem also.
Vzbob - what you have him doing will cause ALL the maps, US or otherwise, to supply only US engines. The date code will have the game replacing it with the original RRT_Trains.xml. Not good.
Sorry bout the error.

Re: Trains in America
Ok, let's try it this way.
First, is this a STEAM version? If so, we will have to get drastic. Go find a shotgun!
First, non STEAM. Go into My Games\Sid Meier's Railroads!\CustomAssets\ and create a new folder, XML. Unzip the file below and place the folder into this folder. Be sure your CustomAssets is empty except for this folder.
Run the US NorthEast map. You SHOULD see the Grasshopper. The rest of the US maps should do the same.
If this is a STEAM version, I hate the idea, but try this..... go into the main game folder and on into Sid Meier's Railroads!\Assets\XML\_SCENARIOS_ and place that folder in there.
If none of this works, I cannot understand why. All the US maps refer to the US East Trians XML and once that is change they will all be showing only US engines.

Re: Trains in America
OK. This worked, but now all the European trains are red blobs with a top speed of 0km/h. I'd rather have Europe and European trains be available to me than only have America.snoopy55 wrote:Ok, let's try it this way.

*EDIT*
I put everything else back into Custom Assets, and it's all back to normal.
*RE-EDIT*
I feel really stupid, All I needed do was delete a second version of the FEF-3 and FEF-3 greyhound and it returned it to normal, while still allowing the trains I've downloaded from here.

Re: Trains in America
Hmmmmm So all this time it has been because of an editing of the Trains XML that was somewhere on your system that we knew nothing about........
Yup, that explains it.

Re: Trains in America
Actually, to use all existing trains (original train) you do not need to do anything, you need to do is when you start the game on windows setup scenario, there is the option "use all trains" on the bottom right so you only need to check the this option then you will be able to use all of the trains that carried by this game. for trains that come as a mod you can use for the above case by including listing the train into RRT_Trains.xml

Re: Trains in America
On mine, the "use all trains" option is only available in train table mode, not when playing a scenario.
