WIP 4-8-4 FEF 3 Northern

Post by eilelwen » Tue Oct 31, 2006 11:34 pm

well I have decided this is going to be my first train that I'm going to attempt to get ingame, I started with the tender and am going to for now use textures ingame. Till I get the model and all that working.

Right now I only have a tender, but considering that it might be a challenge I decided I would start there.

*edited: please add images as attachments*

once I get this working, I will move onto things like the engine itself, but I may start modeling it tonight. Also I'm not really a texture person so if anyone would like to help me here that would be great :), I'm willing to do the UV map.

Also when I tried to unpack the .fpk files for the trains nothing happens I have the right tool but it just dosn't unpack them any ideas here?

I makes a folder by the same name in where ever you told it to unzip to.

tried that, thing is when I do it I go though the two windows hit go for it to do the unpacking and nothing happens. Which will make trying to figure out how they did the engines an extra trouble.

edit: after thinking about it, this might be my OS, windows XP X64 sometimes give me troubles.

well I just don't understand why I can't seem to get it to work, tried on my dads computer to the same effect so I'm not sure whats wrong heh.

really what I need would be 2-4 complete trains 1 deisel and 1-3 Steam engines. that way I can see how the animations are done. textures included would be nice. I'll keep working on my end to see if I can fix this problem as it is annoying.

and thanks for the help :) goal is to do an engine test by next friday.

Program called pakbuild v2.14

start the program ... click on PAK , then click on unpak , then pick a folder you want it to unpack to ... thats all ... when you go to the folder you picked there should be another folder with the unpacked stuff in it.

Your project is looking good so far ... maybe when you are done you can write up a quick overview of what programs you used and how it all came together to make the train.

I was looking through the files .. I was able to unpack the trains and I was able to check out the texture files .. but I had no idea how to change them or customize them at all :)

I found the best train in SMR!
I'd post it but extension nif is not allowed.

I have been using pakbuild, it dosn't work on my computer. I do exactly as I should using the unpack option. I CAN unpack the tender mod and the livery mod. But the base SMR .fpk won't unpack.

again I'm not sure why.

also if I can figure out why I can't get my fpk files to unpack or someone is kind enough to send me some of the steam trains electrics and diesels I will definatly make a how to. mainly for the Steam Train I need to see how the animations are done.
