There is a "Elf" car that is used in a map where elves have to go to work in the Annexes and people just go from town to town. Can't remember which one tho......

how did you get a v3 car?

Well thats simple, first rename the .kfm of any model you want to _v3.kfm, same for the _dummies.nif to _dummies_v3.nif. (any other nif/kf doesnt really matter what they are named)

After that go into the _trains.xml and change the <szCar>_v2</szCar> to _v3 for any engine that should pull it (e.g. any engine after 1950, as i did).

BUT you need then a _v3 version of any traincar on your map that this engine could pull or you will get a CTD at the station the car is loaded  (copy, paste and rename of existing cars will do  )

instead of _v3 you could name it whatever you want (_tgv, _bnsf, _v4, _smr .. its all the same), e.g. for engine specific traincars (like the TGV) :D

P.S. There have to be a _v1 (and _v2 in this case) version of the traincar, even if no engine will pull them

Are these cars supposed to be black? They look black in my games. I tried the 'standard' ones. The 'VIA' ones are also black, but with a blue stripe and the VIA logo.

I've reinstalled these and they don't look black anymore. Must have been something screwy with my set up. Strange. :?
And, I created myself some cool matching mail cars by just copying and renaming the files mail_car_*.
They look fantastic. Thanks!

Any chance we might see these in blue? Hint Hint

I really hate to be picky and I wish I had the resources and skill to do it myself, but...
The cars seem a tad too large. Their roofs extend over the tops of the locomotives and their wheels are even larger than the diesels wheels. Any chance you could re-size these? Pretty please? If not, I'll still keep using them anyway. They look really good. Thanks for all your work.
And while you're at it, color schemes for every major US and European railroad. :)

Place this line in the RRT_TrainCars.xml file
You can adjust the scale to anything you want.
<Scale>1.0</Scale>

This will work with all the graphic XML files.

Next few days I'll look around in my files and will upload some more passenger and mail cars.
They are available in the "Constuction" thread
