I need a flexible decal

Post by slider38 » Sat Apr 07, 2012 12:15 am

Hi Guys, I don't know much about decals, but I am hoping that someone with the knowledge might be able to create a decal with 5 vertices per side. I need to wrap a good size decal around the nose of an F3A. While I can get away with using a standard 4 corner decal, I really hate having those corner flying out in space. I don't know how tough it is to create one of these decals, but I am hoping that someone with knowledge of Blender or some other program can create something like this:

If the decal had five vertices per side, it would give it some flexibility. By keeping the distance between vertices equal, resizing it by moving the vertices would not be difficult. For a 128 by 128 decal (pixels 0 to 127) the vertices would be located at 0,0 0,31 0,63 0,95 0,127 along the left side and 0,0 31,0 63,0 95,0 127,0 along the top. The rest of them should be obvious. I don't know if this can be done, but it sure would come in handy sometimes. If anyone knows if something like this already exists, please let me know. Thanks.
