What does "out of sync" during online games mean?

How do you "whisper"?

How does the taunt thing in Options work; e.g., does it only print what you type in, or does it insert your game name?

Put simply it just means that one person's computer in multiplayer has gone slower than the rest and so they have become 'out of sync', once they are out of sync it isn't possible for the computer to 'resync' with the others, thus it brings you back to the offline part of your game.
