Ok I see what happened. Unfortunately there is no programmatic solution. While the htaccess will redirect anyone you requests a correct sub-forum it is not possible to redirect the file downloads in a practical manner. The "Installing custom maps" link will have been broken for a very long time as it pointed to a domain HG hasn't used in ages.

I would fix the links but the fact is that the pages themselves are out dated. The 'Map Database' does a much better job of organizing the maps and is much more complete. To top all that off people do not really visit those pages.

Thank you for reporting them, if anything its great to hear that everything went quite smooth and that the only thing broken is the wiki.

Warll did you see the first comment made on the homepage contest post?

Apparently the guy can't sign up as a new user to the forum. You might need to see if registration still works.

Ok I've fixed the captcha issue and upgraded the forum.

@Pureon: The forum should now be centered in IE, could you please confirm this for me?

@Warll: Yes it's now centered in IE :)

p.s. Can you rename the subject title of this topic to something less depressing - how about 'Upgrading the forums!'

I wonder how many visitors we will get via the "Hooked" link. The SMR forum is empty, and a casual visitor will need to click exactly on the "Sid Meier's Railroads!" header to get transferred. :?
Can we notify Google of the change? 8)

And oh, yes, the positioning and size is much better now! :D

Google already is switching over the results and any old bookmarks people have should redirect them over here.

I liked the "newest post" feature on HG. Even nicer would be a "recent unread posts" feature. Any chance that we can get that? :P

What 'Newest post feature"? I haven't changed anything like that since the move so it should be exactly as it was before.

A list of recent unread posts is avalible by following the like that says "View new posts" which can be found on the board index. Hes the link itself: http://www.smrsimple.com/forums/search. ... d=newposts
