Good question.... and one that should at least be updated in the Allowed file types text that shows up in the manage attachments section, if not anywhere else, since that tends to be the first place I check for somethink like that.

I am trying to upload this file, just under 15 megs, and it does not work!
Step 1.jpg

I am getting an error message, then a "Done" message.
By that time the page kicks back to a blank page.

That is most likely because the upload has been timed-out. One of the ever present problems with uploading over http is that the server will only allow an upload connection to stay alive for a short period of time. If the upload isn't completed within that time, the server disconnects but the software doesn't get warning about that.

Unless someone creates a upload mod (for instance through java instead of http) I cannot fix this. Only people with a fast connection will be able to upload large files.

I had this little problem also, but I was writing the post, put a short upload, one of the BBs, on it and had the same problem. Long posts or where I have to dig for info I do on Wordpad. Helps to keep from loosing the connection.

How short is short? 1 sec. 10 sec?
Can you be more specific?

Of course we know that the service provider will probably also overstate the upload speed. Comcast says it's 384 Kbps. I wonder what it is in reality?

In truth the maximum practical file size seems to be around 2 Mb. It depends on the sevice provider and the receiver speed. Probably the time of the day might matter also, depending on how busy the Net is at that given moment. We are getting too global. There are users around now 24 hrs a day.

...and the maximum number of attachments are five!
