K-class - Would it be safe to assume that you also use a ad search program such as Ad-Aware, which is also free? This kills those nasty little programs that sit in the background and keep track of everything you do so they can report it to their creators when you go online. I don't know about Zone Alarm, but they can get past AVG.
I'm correct 97% of the time..... who cares about the other 4%....

Yea for sure snoopy55 there is plenty of free programmes that keep you safe. AVG is a pretty good Antivirus programme but as you say does not stop trojans and adware programmes and I use Spybot for that.

Also another good freebi is CCleaner http://www.ccleaner.com/

ZoneAlarm is a free firewall its best feature is you cant stop anything coming in but a firewall like ZoneAlarm will ask permission for any program to access the internet.

It sounds if Eldrane has got something on there PC

Also for Eldrane

Restore points

start => run type msconfig
click on Launch System Restore

Explains what a Restore Point is about.

The idea is to go back to a point in time that you have a clean system, run a trojan check, adware programme and antvirus etc and then start again to install SMR

I had no issues get SMR installed.

If I went back say 6 mths and checked would I need to reinstall the game?

Also would I be able to get back to yesterdays restore point easily if it didn't work?

Thanks for all your help
If you roll back you can't roll forword so make sure you back up anything you need.

Not true. In XP, it's easy to undo a restore & revert; makes backups automatically.

You sure about that? If I remember right it warns you that you can't go back to the future( ).

Well, I didn't make it up - It tells (twice) that it can be reversed! Maybe you have an older version?

I've gone to the past and I've gone to the future so many times that Micheal J Fox would be proud of me. :)
