Yha sorry about that.K-class wrote:Hello
Why Why Why are you spending $30 to fix this game!!!!
Add-Remove Pro 2.10
Add-Remove Pro This free tool shows you want is in the Add-Remove Programs list, which entries are valid, and allows you to uninstall or remove any entry.
http://www.soft32.com/download_9082.html
Try http://www.ccleaner.com/ this has a free reg cleaner, will remove entries from the registry.
Guys you don't need to spend money on things like this and advising hard drive partitions to most people will screw there xp operating system.
Also reg cleaners can cause more issues than they are trying to fix.
The more you play under the hood without a through understanding (not trying to sound condescending here) of what you are doing in a short space of time a re installation of XP will be in order.
Please Help me get the Game to Run
K-Class: Thanks for the update, actually I've managed to get the rogue entry in Add/Remove removed, uninstalled the game, ran the demo of WinAso a number of times to remove all identified registry errors only to reinstall the game and still recive the message
"Cannot find required DLL D:\autorungui.dll"
The game simply refuses to run after reinstallation. If any of you have further ideas I can try I'd be really keen to hear them... getting desparate here!
Isn't it interesting that the longer you're unable to play a game the more importance it takes on and becomes the "only" game you really want to play!!!
Any Help appreciated.

Hello This is not a SMR install issue or game related problem
"Cannot find required DLL D:\autorungui.dll" is D:\ your CD or DVD drive
autorungui.dll is not on the cd nor in SMR nor on my PC
I don't even have AutoRunGUI.dll on my PC
I would suspect autorungui.dll may be a trojan or some other suspicious file. Have you run any trojan checkers. Or its part of a previous failed setup and its running in some start-up script on your PC or in your registry.
Have you tried starting in Safe Mode - press F8 when booting up.
There is a couple of things here
* You have a corrupted XP Operating System - reformat and re install windows - last option
* You have trojan or spyware on your pc run trojan spy checkers
* You are using a cracked SMR or CD key something along those lines
You know how to use System restore? restore your machine.
=>start run type msconfig => Launch System Restore
Roll back. If you have a trojan this may not fix it unless you go back say a month etc.
Start, Run, SFC /scannow you will need your XP cd. will check your system files.
Doing a search on google for AutoRunGUI.dll looks like a trojan or game hacking attempts.
Last option do a complete backup of all files, reformat c:\ and re install xp

Hello,
once you have gone start run type msconfig ok
this brings up the System Configuration Utility.
On the tab BOOT.INI under Boot Options
Tick /SAFEBOOT
Apply Ok
Reboot your machine, your machine will know boot into Safe Mode automatically. You may need to enter Admin username and password
After you have done what you want in safe mode.
Go back as above, untick and reboot and your machine will back to normal mode.

Cool
This trick I learnt last week as I had a lappy running Vista and would not go into boot mode.
Lappy used some combo of keys but this trick works great as it automatically boots in Safe Mode and by unticking after you have finished in Safe Mode you are back to normal, less boots.

Hello,
You may not have a trojan but looks to me if something like that is on your pc.
WinAso is a registry cleaner / checker / Privacy Eraser
Have a search round on the internet there are some free ones.
I use FREE Spybot - Search & Destroy
http://www.safer-networking.org/en/home/index.html
Free The Cleaner v5
http://www.moosoft.com/TheCleaner/TheCleaner
You could try a free trial for TrojanHunter 4 at http://www.misec.net/
There are plenty of trojan checkers available online
I use on my PC
Free Spybot - Search & Destroy
Free Windows Defender
Free AVG Antivirus
ZoneAlarm Pro firewall not free but basic ZoneAlarm is free.
