Re: Lake Michigan West SAM
Interesting stuff. The missing terrain reflection is just a glitch of the rendering engine. See this mountain reflection from my yet to be released "Australia - sunny down under" map for a counterexample. :D Canberra 01.jpg The RRT_Engine_map is used to generate metallic reflections - and if you loo...

Re: Basin And Range 2-maps CIC build Size 13 -18
I applaud your decision to conclude this project. :D It is all too easy to spoil a good map by adding all sorts of marginal quests. This map evokes the emptiness of desert territory, if well played, and that is how it should be. In addition, I think the original authors will most appreciate a carefu...

Re: New Map - US_Southeast
New Orleans (after the storm).jpg Hi TMiller, I played through Lowell's version of Basin and Range two days ago, not a hitch - so you might try replacing the fort with the one from that source and see whether that fixes the troops and ammo trains. Spaghetti squared.jpg Anyway, I continued the scena...

Re: Lake Michigan West SAM
We should probably have started a new topic for this interesting subject, but just to expand slightly - Wings of Phoenix rightly points out that SMR has its own (limited) interpretation of specular light reflection. In general, specular reflection is distinct from diffuse reflection, in that incomin...

Re: Lake Michigan West SAM Version 2
Last Electronics Delivery to Chicago.jpg As we can see, those lighthouses now stay put (Screenshot 1). Good idea - light production. Very professional-looking production chain chart! 8) There is only one small glitch with the oil cars (Screenshot 2), otherwise everthing ran perfectly - I could stil...

Basin Range Landscape2.jpg fix this fantastic map into a simple drag-and-drop map install. Lowell, this is certainly a welcome development, thanks for making this excellent granddaddy of all content-enhanced maps available as a straightforward drag and drop map! Basin Range Landscape.jpg The scener...

Re: Lake Michigan West SAM
Yes, the lighthouse was once part of a larger structure - one of the tricks of efficient modellers! I doubt that this is crash-relevant, but who knows  Anyway, I played around a bit with the emsk file (environment mask) of the lighthouse, and here is what I got: 1. White emsk: the shadowy p...

Re: Lake Michigan West SAM
Thought I would look at the lighthouses in the Decorations folder. Am confused in that the Nif files are in fact light houses but the, diff, emsk, and spec files are a large building, and was wondering if this is correct? Larry Hi Larry, diff, emsk, and spec files control the appearance of the ligh...

Re: Lake Michigan West SAM
What do you think? Is it worth the trouble? It seems to me that if one goes to all the trouble of creating a landmark, one probably would prefer not to lose it when the map is saved and loaded. The landmark hamlet could have an appropriate name, such as "Stormcliffs Lighthouse". For the goods appro...

Re: Lake Michigan West SAM
If you were to define them as monuments in one-house villages or as fake production facilities, I think they might stay put. Here is what I mean: first, the permanent landmark, a lighthouse in Chicago (pic1). You have to define it as landmark, otherwise you get overkill (pic2). Second, a fa...

Re: Lake Michigan West SAM
I spent about a year working on this maps' content. ... and it certainly shows! :D Great stuff. A few more comments: You have a lot of nice touches, like the lighthouses and farmhouses. Unfortunately, they all disappear when loading a saved map, because they are defined as decorations. If you were ...

Re: Lake Michigan West SAM
Thanks for a fun afternoon, Slider - I enjoyed and admired the carefully crafted new content! As I have said before, your maps are always thoroughly tested before posting, not a glitch to be found. 8) I think Warll will package the files in one downloadable and post them in the database, so you don'...
