Re: Borneo Island Map Final Release

I obtained the installer from the Map Database page. I would think that would have the latest version.

Re: Borneo Island Map Final Release

OK, this just proves that my installation is not completing successfully for some reason.
Is this just me? No offense Rodea, but has anyone out there actually used the 'Setup Rodea2007 Map Borneo Island Map Scenario1.1.exe' to successfully install this map?

Re: Borneo Island Map Final Release

After the attempted install this is what my C:\Documents and Settings\Eric\My Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Railroads!\CustomAssets\XML looks like: XML.JPG I *assume* that there are supposed to be other xml files in there. The RR_Goods.xml file is in there only because I downloaded it from this thr...

Re: Borneo Island Map Final Release

I've uninstalled the game and reinstalled it. Reran the 3G enabler and again tried to install BIM. I got the same exact error message that I got the first time. I downloaded and installed the RR_Goods.xml file above into the ~/CustomAssets/XML directory and reran the BIM installer. It got farther th...

Re: Borneo Island Map Final Release

I did understand that is what you meant, but I have only one hard drive and only one OS. I was thinking maybe the Stardock installer mucked things up somehow. My current installation location is; C:\Program Files\2K Games\Sid Meier's Railroads! As far as I can tell, that is where the Registry says i...

Re: Borneo Island Map Final Release

Ah, I think Rodea is not correct about the installation issue, but he is very very close. Still a very astute deduction. I'm sure that he is right about it being a registry issue. I did not buy SMR from a store on CD. I bought it from a licensed download service. No physical media was required. I pu...

Re: Online strategy guide

Let me take a step back for a moment and say that if my use of the term "cheating" insulted anyone I apologize. I understand that saying something is "cheating" can imply that I am calling someone a "cheater". That was not my intention. Let's just say that, IMO, turns like this "violate the spirit o...

Re: Online strategy guide

1: Please do not argue that this an issue of scale. If it were I would agree with you because a train can make a 90 degree turn within a mile or so, but it is very evident that this whole game is "not to scale". 2: Here you are making my point for me. When you try to lay track "normally" you will ge...

Re: Online strategy guide

No, the more I think about those crazy right turns the more I am absolutely convinced that it is cheating. You are clearly exploiting a bug in the program. Shame on you. :)

Re: Online strategy guide

Those extreme right turns seem like cheating to me. You are exploiting a weakness in the game to get no slow down on a turn that in reality you would have an extreme slow down on that would out weigh the distance saved. But I guess there's no real way to prevent you from doing it. :| They also just ...

Re: Map Components Trains by Rodea

BTW, I fixed the ATSF F7 routing image. Seems there was some odd typo in the file name in the <BitmapIcon> tag.
Not sure if it was already there or something I did.
Thanks for all your great work Rodea.

Re: passenger cars

I've reinstalled these and they don't look black anymore. Must have been something screwy with my set up. Strange. :? And, I created myself some cool matching mail cars by just copying and renaming the files mail_car_*. They look fantastic. Thanks! Any chance we might see these in blue? Hint Hint :w...

Re: Borneo Island Map Final Release

OK, I created the XML directory in the CustomAssets directory. Then I copied the file you attached above into the XML directory and renamed it RR_Goods.xml. I reran the installer and got the same error message, but it looked like it got farther this time. I went ahead and started SMR to try and atte...

Re: Borneo Island Map Final Release

No luck. I installed 7-Zip and extracted using it. I get the same stop at the same exact spot during the install. :(
