Ahh, the cool mountain air, I'm back and I'll hopefully add some more updates with my new map-in-progress.
Cheers to you all,
Jewnior

Re: Colorado Map from a newbie
Nice info there Jancsika, thanks.
But, I have to put this on hold for just under 2 weeks. I'm going on vacation so I'll pick it back up when I get back. Many thanks for all your help, and when I get back, I can kick this into a higher gear.
Cheers

Re: Colorado Map from a newbie
I know it's definitely going to be a SAM map, because I'm going to add some new, custom stuff. Do you have any info or links for creating new goods and their icons and how I need to reference those in their appropriate xml files. I know that I'll be adding a new passenger type, Scientist, as well as...

Re: Colorado Map from a newbie
Ok, here's the zipped folder for my map, since I don't know what parts you'd need to take a look at my progress so far. I added some trees.....well, lots of trees...since that's all we got are trees and mountains. I also added some of the major rivers and a few other changes. Lemme know what you thi...

Re: Colorado Map from a newbie
Added some more cities and messed with the terrain and tinting, trying to see if above sea level "rivers" were doable.
Thoughts?

Re: I'm New Help!
Greybriar, he's talking about tracks and terminals, not the trains that run on it.Greybriar wrote:Welcome to the Hooked on Railroads! forums, Neilnm.
It is best if you have one train per track. Try to avoid congestion as much as possible.

Re: I'm New Help!
Well, you can only build 3 side by side rails in a "Depot". Once you upgrade to Station and Terminal, you can do 4. Sometimes it may only say you have 3 connected to a terminal (by clicking your city's terminal). If that's the case, as it's happened to me, delete the 4th, unconnected track, and repl...

Re: Colorado Map from a newbie
Sweet, thanks for the advice and tips. I think that that map is outdated or something because I had to redo it...Or! I think I uploaded the wrong one, because that was the wrong one, I had to raise the terrain and stuff and I got the save file names mixed up. I have added some of the major cities (I...

Colorado Map from a newbie
Alright, I think I've gotten the hang of the whole map creating and coloring the landscape. Since I'm moderately pleased with myself on this subject, I decided to model a map after the state of Colorado as the first part of my map modding endeavors. I was going to post my map but I'm not sure how to...

Re: Map making with Photoshop
Ya, I do understand that part, what I'm having trouble with is finding out the exact RGB values for any given points on my grayscale map in Photoshop. Is there a definite way to determine RGB values or is it something you have to "trail and error"?

Map making with Photoshop
Hey all, I have a question for you map makers and photo editing-savvy people out there. I have read through Snoopy's Map making tutorial (I think it was by Dr. Frag?) about the DEM maps and converting them into grayscale to be placed into Photoshop along with a blank, newly created .tga map in SMR. ...

Re: Multiplayer Maps and Computer AI
Ya, I have definitely played your Nafta one, I think I have the Phase 2(?) one. I do like that one a lot, but it's mostly 1 long chain of resources from laborers to manufactured goods. I know I've played maps where, say, a sheep farm supplies sheep on it's own, but you can also bring cornmeal to the...
