Isolating a CTD
I have suffered the normal number of CTDs while working on a scenario - always thought I could trace it back to a missing or mislinked, Good, Inventory, TrainCar, etc... Today I had a CTD well into a run of the scenario which led me to believe it was not one of the usual suspects. This was right aft...

thanks; I tried this out and it worked - was able to bring an mp3 file into the game and have it play successfully. Then it occured to me - if you make a scenario with new songs then obviously if you wanted to share your scenario you would have to upload the mp3 files along with the normal game file...

Is it possible to add/replace the music (songs) that play as you hover over certain cities...or is that coding off limits?

Just discovered another CTD scenario based on my post regarding "buildstuff".... I (stupidly) changed "buildstuff" to "ownstuff" without also changing "buildlist" to "ownlist". The result was a CTD when I clicked on the "Single Player" button on the main menu screen of the game - never had that dram...

Parameter list project......??
Here's an idea- a list of all the XML 'primary' tags and all of the potential 'arguments' they could take... For example how many different "Victory Conditions" are there? I always have to hunt other folks' scenarios to get the syntax correct and often discover an 'argument' that I didn't even know ...

atani - that worked! thanks so much. That begs the question - what is the difference between buildstuff and ownstuff? Also (in reference to my note on causes of CTD) - I made the mestake of just changing 'buildstuff' to 'ownstuff' in the condition tag (not realizing that there was a 'buildlist' whic...

CTD variations...?
Gang - In my (yet to be fruitful) endeavors I've encountered 3 'types' of CTD (not counting the CTD's once you've acutally started a scenario) 1- the scenario starts to load then CTD (without any intervention) 2- the scenario starts to load...and load.... and load.... when you finally hit 'enter' - ...

buildstuff victory condition
Gang - help me with this-- I'm using the Buildstuff Victory Condition; specifying that an industry be built in a specific city by the end of the era. As soon as the scenario starts the condition is met (the 'newspaper' headline comes up and the box is green-checked in the Victory tab. Yet the indust...

No Tunnels, No Bridges
Hey Gang - Does anyone know what settings to use in the Tunnels and Bridges XML files to force a scenario never to build either a tunnel or a bridge - in other words being forced to lay track around all obstacles. I've experimented with a few of the parameters but so far all I've managed to accompli...

This is probably like the blind leading the blind but.... The "build a factory in your city" icons are referenced in the Industries.XML file under the szIcon tag. What I don't know is where those icons reside. Using the MS XP search function doesn't find them. But if you are creating your own "build...

Adjusted Difficulty
I know it can be frustrating sometimes not to be able to meet scenario goals due to lack of funds. The Table Top mode does not help as it takes all the goals away. Just to make things a little easier and to give me time to explore some of these great custom maps, I added an additional Difficulty Lev...

Command Line...?
Quick Question:
Is there a Command Line argument which will boot you directly into a specific scenario?
This would be nice shortcut when trubleshooting a scenario-in-progress...
thanks,
