Re: Some Questions
Thanks everyone for the feedback. To answer the question...I have the mod that includes the Coast to Coast map and other mods, which also mods the original game (all trains that need it have a coal car). I was hoping the C2C map would work as that was something I always wanted to do, even with the o...

Some Questions
Has anyone figured out how to make it possible to choose your AI opponent(s)? This was part of the original Railroad Tycoon game back in the 80's and a major flub on the part of the Railroads development team. I like playing the Northwest map because it most closely resembles RT. I dislike playing a...

Changing resolutions doesn't appear to have any benefit. The corruption can appear (and disappear) at any time during play. Since it goes away usually within a few minutes, it's not a big deal. I'm thinking it has something to do with the game and the new 8800 card in terms of compatibility. Hopeful...

Yes...my BFG is the OC model. I believe it's bumped up to 600 (from 525) according to the box label. I'm running WinXP SP2. I'll have to try lowering the resolution to 1280x960 or more and see if it goes away. I'm not going to Vista until I have to but I may try installing it as a dual boot system. ...

Here's my system goodies. FEAR, Quake4, Doom3...all maxed out run like quicksilver on glass. I haven't finished installing all my games but these are indicators of the performance I'm getting. Resolution is 1280x1024. All maps play just fine except for the weird graphics hiccup. I have all the lates...

On Screen Graphics Corruption During Play
I just finished building a new PC. I have a Core 2 Duo 2.4, 8800GTX with latest drivers from nVidia, 2 Gig RAM (2x1024 kit), and a Viewsonic VX-922 LCD Monitor among other goodies. When I play Railroads, the mini-map and the main screen both usually show corrupt graphics that look something like vec...

If all 15 maps had the goods placed in the same spot and you beat it the first time you played and every time after that, you would get tired of it and give it to someone else. You would stop going to the same golfcourse if everytime you played you beat it by 18 strokes wouldn't you? Same here, it ...

Will This Be Fixed? Is Another Patch Being Considered?
I like the idea of this game. But there's something screwed up with how it functions. I play this game (or try to) each night. I just finished spending an hour loading the Northwest scenario over and over again. I must have done this at least 50 times! The scenario has a set of goals but the resourc...

I run a train from a resource to a city on a dedicated spur. I run a passenger/mail train (sometimes just freight) between 1 to 3 stations on double track. I run a second freight train between the same stops once they have goods to shuttle back and forth. I try to make each train always haul somethi...

This assumes you have AI competition...I've done this many times at Tycoon level. Connect Washington, Baltimore, Aberdeen, Wilmington, Philedelphia, Trenton, and New York as soon as possible. You can usually manage this within the first 5 years or so. Run a train between Washington and Baltimore, an...

The pathfinding in Railroads is incredibly simple. It's the shortest distance between two points. You can test this easily. Set up double track with crossovers that's perfectly straight between two cities with two trains...the trains will not use the crossovers. Now do the same thing but this time l...
