Re: Randomize landscape
One could darken a range of bright shades in the map file, but this would be hit and miss, and it could leave some low elevation towns in the sea as well. Trial and error will result in a fairly flat map eventually, but is it worth the trouble? Best to take up the challenge as intended by the map ma...

Re: Mapmaking Tutorial.
AFAIK this cost depends on the earthworks plus tunnels/bridges the player uses - the formula cannot be changed, but the cost of tunnels and bridges can.

Re: New Map - The Gold King
Single player runs well. Have not tested with competition yet.
The structure of the files is a bit complex, but I figured it out after a while

Re: Default list order when browsing saved games
I name my saves so that the newest is automatically sorted at top.
Ie
..
ZZ97 (plus other interesting details), newest save
ZZ98 (plus other interesting details),
ZZ99 (plus other interesting details), oldest save
etc.

Re: Florida Gold Rebuild/Upgrade
Here is the modified Cities.xml. Replace it in the UserMaps file to fix the crashes. See Key West as an example of the neat new city style.

Re: Florida Gold Rebuild/Upgrade
Download the one in the first post. That is what I did. There are a lot more file issues with this version, but none are deadly  I have added a modified City.xml. Re: Florida Gold Rebuild/Upgrade
I'm having some crashing problems. I get through the first era but when I start on the second it always CTD. Mike... I agree. There are some minor .dds problems (attached), but they are not the cause of the crashes. A while into the second era, one of the cities tries to grow and crashes the game. ...

:D Back again, I guess I was losing my touch  Perhaps I have been testing too few new maps. Anyway, this time I got all the goals and enjoyed hugely the careful and clever design of your map! EVERY resource needs to be utilized to the full to ensure success, and what fun it was to get everythin...

Re: New York Central and The Erie
I had a look, but I found the new version a bit too difficult to complete even at easy Investor level so far - have you tested it yourself? The trees are nice - I did not really notice any terrain modifications. But I did notice the excellent era victory newspapers with good and interesting images a...

Can you upload the version you use here for me to check? There are different versions in circulation, and not all are originals by Lowell.

Re: Getting mods to run on Steam ver of game
Quoting Warll: Open the map files in notepad and resave. SMR will load the newest timestamp copy of any xml asset. There is a chance steam’s smr has assets with newer timestamps than some maps.
Please report back if you do try it. What you need to do is open every xml file in the map and resave.
