As for the linefeeds in the generated XML, that's one of those things that is actually more of a pain than you would think, and since there are plenty of freeware and commercial XML editors that can read those files in and write them out with the linefeeds and tab indentation, we didn't focus on that.

I have no objections to that... can't guarantee that there is a non-destructive way of getting it to work without overwriting core game assets, so you'd be doing it at your own risk, but I don't see why we would have an issue with this...

I don't really think it matters, but I'd apply the patch first. The holiday scenario shouldn't overwrite anything, it should be installed to its own folder, IIRC...
