You'll find landmarks in the cities too.... Chicago has the Sears Tower, for example. And others have already commented on the demand for cars in 1840 - they change shape though from model-T to some nice 1940s shape at some point.

Had similar stuttering music and computer lockups (with a 7800 GT). Updating the nVidia drivers for the video card allowed me to play a (long) evening without any problems! YAY! the game is actually fun! ;O)

Also switched to playing in windowed mode. helps with the alt-tabbing...
