What maps have you made? I think you've made this one, San Fran and Long Beach, is that correct?

Thanks again!

Re: New Sosaria - a fantasy realm

Just wanted to bump this map to the top. It is fantastic. It's the only larger-than-standard-size map I've ever played in Sid Meier's Railroads! (15x15) that I can play from start to finish without a single crash. I don't know what it is (or rather what all the others are doing wrong), but this map ...

Making Standard Maps More Difficult/Longer Lasting

Hello! There are tons of great modded maps out there, but part of me likes to just keep playing the "stock" in-box maps. I've done (or am going to do) some basic things to make these more challenging/realistic. I already play on Robber Baron/Hard Routing. Here is what I have/will do: Decreased maint...

Re: Realism Mods?

Open up the User Maps folder on yhe one you want to change. Then find RRT_Trains and open with note pad or Note Pad plus and look for: <Speed0>9</Speed0> <MaxSpeed>10</MaxSpeed> The higher the number the faster it will go. Now look for :<MaintenanceCost>3500</MaintenanceCost> I never have changed t...

Re: Realism Mods?

Just go get a money trainer. And it's easy to change the max speed on all engines. How do I change an engine's max speed? And where can I change the base maintenance costs? Here is what I envision: F-Series Diesel remains the same speed/power, but has 1/3 the maintenance cost of same-era stea...

Realism Mods?

Hello all, Has anyone out there created/posted a realism mod that I've overlooked? I'm specifically looking for a mod that changes the maintenance costs of the trains. The current values make upgrading to some of the diesels pointless since it makes them more expensive to maintain than the steam eng...

Re: My Review of Patch 1.1

I just wanted to point out my thoughts about SMR Patch 1.1 after playing my first game with it installed. ... (excerpt:) As a counter-point, they seem to have done a pretty half-assed job with the graphics, as now the people walk on thin air and the first part of the stairs didn't get moved with th...

The type of routing seems to depend on the level of difficulty chosen. On robber baron, I lack the funds to build a rail net for simple multitrack routing. All I play on is Robber Baron/Hard routing and use simple, one-train-per-track routing. Use just have to sell almost all your stock early and h...

Last night I merged a competitor I took over for the first time. It was cool to see their trains to continue to change their consist around, but the funny thing was that there were only three or four trains running. The vast majority of their messy rail network was empty. I ended up having to manual...

I always liquadate. I can usually take the money I get from liquadation and re-build more profitable (and better-looking) routes that were just deleted. I especially hate it when the AI plays leapfrog with my routes and just runs parallel lines to all my lines... this is when there is NO OPTION but ...

Although I can't really back up my thoughts with hard facts, I feel that simple routing is much more profitable. I used to use complex routing (since RRT1 & 2 vets are so trained to do so), but with SMR you have a new problem of the industries taking time to produce goods (RRT1&2 would be produced ...

Is this really true? I only thought you gained revenue from an industry you owned by delivering raw goods to that industry, no?

The problem with the AI and auctions is only on Robberbaron setting. I tested it out and went back to Tycoon and the AI would start auctions. I then went back to Robberbaron and nothing. This problem has been around since the Robberbaron setting was introduced in the 1.01 patch. Good catch - all I ...
