More train equal more maintenance costs. A possible reason. I've seen a competitor I took over had 16 cars on one train! How can they do that if we can't?? Whaaat ??? Never happened to me,there are three explanations for this : 1 ) It was a game fault 2 ) maybe you saw few trains one over each othe...

Re: I had the money, but i was bought out??

Re: When do you upgarde locomotives
Do you normally upgrade your trains as soon as new engines come out or do you wait until its mtc costs become too high? I normally upgrade when mtc costs get to around 20% (divide mtc cost by train's income for the year) unless of course I can see much bigger benefit from getting better engine much...

it was a 1v1 game... and it wasnt the first game i'd had with this player, a couple of prior games were fair and we won one each. This is not a question of the personality, this is a question of the strategy. In that case, you're/he's not playing the _game; you're/he's exploiting technicalities of ...

Re: NewYork Washington Passenger
Randomize the cities and the terrain. Frequently, NYC and Washington end up not too far away from each other.stevydh wrote:I am trying to ship 50 passenger cars from New York to Washington, but always short only upt to 35 cars. Any tips how to solve this?

Two guys are getting ready to play good even match of chess. The anticpation builds as the board is set....then the one guy leans over the board and punches the other dude in the balls. The matches start but the guy that got punched really can't concentrate on a strategy..... Interesting analogy, b...

Re: Multiplayer Strategy
But back to the original question - do you think intentionally blocking your opponents track is immature and not in the spirit of the game (as I do), or is it a valid tactic for multiplayer? I voted for "All is fair....", but I would like to add that the business of business is to make money. Block...

Re: Why can AI buy me if I have 70% of my shares
This does not make much sense. If I own 70% of my own company nobody should be able to buy me against my will. Company valuations are also crazy in some situations. I completely blocked of one of my AI competitors at the start of the game by puting my rails all around his starting rail. So he could...

I've been noticing the AI are buying stock, and then selling it immediately. They buy stock at $150,000, then sell it at $145,000 or less. Aren't they losing money on the deal? What kind of stock buying strategy is this? I'd be broke in a month if I did this. Has anyone else seen this? Usually, it ...

Re: "Finishing" Scenarios?
So how exactly do you "finish" a scenario? Do you have to wait for time to run out (1970 on my current map, midwest USA)? I have met all the goals and finished off all of my competitors... so do I just turn the game to turbo mode and let 1970 roll around? The only way I've finished a scenario so fa...

Re: Current Game Strategy Decision
Hello all, In my current game I am at a point where I am profitable enough to where I can go four different directions and I'm not sure which to choose. I'll try not to drone on too much with my options... here they are: 1. Concentrate on buying stock in my railroad until I own 80% or more of it; 2...

Re: buying industries, power stations, short trade routes
Power stations can use coal and or oil. If there is a power station close to a large source of fuel, I build track there as soon as I can, and I buy the power station before I ship any fuel to it (so it is cheap). It very quickly pays for itself and then churns out huge profits to build out the mid...

Well you didn't ask me but I'll answer anyhow. Gameplay >>> Graphics. I've still got MOO2 configured under DOSBox installed on this machine. "Master of Orion" was a damn decent game! (I still have mine, but, like a couple hundred games I keep around for old time's sake, I never boot it up.) After #...

Me, for one. Once upon a time I was a Research Analyst. What are your credentials? I play video games. Tell me something: Graphics or Gameplay? As if _anyone_ visiting this forum _doesn't_? And are you differentiating between "video" games (which I refer to as "arcade" games, similar to "Doom", whi...
